I was thinking about color coding the keystones to represent a device

Blue = bluray player

Green = xbox 360
 
Just don't get the tool less keystones from monoprice. I bought six of them to test out, and they are terrible.
I made them all work but it was more difficult that just using regular keystones.

I got the punchdown ones... I have a punchdown tool..> i was in Lowe's the other day and they wanted some retarded amount of money for the wallplate and keystones... unreal...

When buying for a permanent installation like in wall don't go with the cheapest. Monoprice is okay for cables and such but for things you are going to use for years I wouldn't purchase from them . For one they never reveal who the product is made by and can switch to another brand at any time so you are never guaranteed the same quality.

You don't need to spend the most money to get quality but try to at least get something that has a brand name attached that you can go to the manufacturers web site and see the details on what you are buying and who made it.
For good quality at low prices I like ICC. You can usually find somewhere locally that sells their stuff.

Yeah I accidentally bought a couple tool-less ones...holy bad.

The punch-down ones worked great. I ordered more of those and threw out the tool-less jacks.
 
I've been using Monoprice A/V wallplates in my basement. Haven't had any problems with the HDMI or banana plug plates I've installed. Just note that they're probably standard size, so you need to be fairly precise when cutting holes in drywall for your gangboxes. One of my HDMI wallplates doesn't quite cover the hole my drywall guys cut.
 
one tip. If you're going to run 2 colors of keystones for each room, get a 16 port patch panel in matching colors.

It makes it real easy to figure out later on, a number for each plate and a matching colored patch panel.

Just running them for the colors such as

green = xbox 360

blue = bluray/ps3

black = reciever

white = wii

beige = whatever

if that makes sense i have already ran my cat5 to where I want it at just have to buy the gang box and fish it thru and punchdown and its done
