Definately not a kids movie! It's like Rat. tested the waters and Wall-E dove in. Wall-E is by far one of the most innovative films of the past decade, leaving many blocks without dialogue, and giving you an emotional attachment that will leaving you reeling by the end.

ah man....i didn't think i would cry during this one, but man....

Yeah, it really tugged at my heart strings too.

I'm probably the only person on this forum who wasn't much impressed with Toy Story. 😱

no, i did not like it that much. I just watched it for the animation.

Same as above... though I don't think these are spoilers... in essence I don't think children will get 70% of the movie. At least there's pretty colors for them.

This is a very bold movie, with a lot of it meant to preach about the seriousness of our dependency on computers and machines... in essence losing our independence to these machines who do everything the same way every day, making everyone so comfortable they become blobs of humans oblivious to the world around them. It makes the humans look more like machines and vice versa, and while it still has quite a bit that kids liked in the theater, I don't think it's a "Finding Nemo" type movie catered to the attentions of children. The required repetition of the machines to show how everything is automated. The lack of dialogue that helps you notice all the other things about the robots and the world around them... a tirade on the duty of people to return home... I just don't think kids will get it, and I don't know if it should really be labeled as a kids film. I have to say good for Pixar for putting it out there though, it actually says something and isn't just another repackaging.

I thought of it as more of a movie on the environment rather than americans "losing bone mass" (as they say in the movie 😛).

Same... it was hard to look all manly coming out still with a lingerin' sad face 😛.

I just got back from it as well, and it was well done, with a definite message. Not so much the laugh it up Pixar flick, but it had its moments. I recommend it, but it isn't 'the best ever'.

It was an okay movie.

IMHO, Get Smart, Kung Fu Panda, and Iron Man are the best movies for the year so far.

Wall-E > Kung Fu Panda 😕 (Not saying KFP was bad by any means)

I thought it was a great movie, simple as that. I enjoyed it more than most other Pixar movies (I enjoy all of them).

"best ever" ? I can see why people will say no ( I say "yes", though😉). however, it's definately ther most ambitious movie to date.

the first 'silent' part of the movie was virtually flawless. . . .the humans almost ruin the movie but overall still a great movie- reminded me of the brave little toaster

Thought it was fantastic. At the end when they manage to make an emotional attachment between robots.. pretty amazing.

I go to see this with my 6 year old daughter, 3 year old son and 7 year old niece. Guess who ends up weeping like a schoolgirl? Yup, I do. Completely mesmerizing and so real-looking. Pixar has gone far above their fantastic production values with this one. It is almost impossible to tell that many scenes are actually CGI.

On top of that, you have a superb plot and just some marvelous acting. I cannot believe how much emotion is in this film! Damn robot has me tearing up just thinking about it now. Fantastic movie I will probably see again. With my wife only, so my kids don't get too upset at daddy crying in the dark.

Go see it. Now.

Peace

Damnit, I wanted to make my next "paying movie visit" Hancock, but after reading the reviews, I may take the GF and go see it tomorrow...

Meh, who am I kidding, I'll just wait for the Blu-ray! 😀

saw it today with the kids.
Honestly it was a simply amazing movie. I think it completely transcends the "animated movie" it is. It reminds me of old silent films. The 1st hour is like a classic Caplin flick. Amazing what Pixar did with it. The last 30mins or so with the humans... well it was good, but it just ruined the entire vibe they set up in the 1st half I thought. It wasn't BAD with the humans, it just paled in comparison to the silent part.

Pixar out did themselves and nearly every other movie maker out there with this one. Talk about raising the bar in story telling. Wow.

Edit: Oh and the Pixar short before hand? Wow again.

Great synopsis. Saw it last night and loved it. Funny how you can feel that emotionally vested in an animated box. 🙂

Hahahaha ... although a rough parallel ... that's like watching porn for the camera work 😛

I loved it! Eve is cute when she's angry. And massively destructive when she's pissed. 😛

I sure did feel my heart try to escape through my mouth though. Goodness.
