They're about 4 years too late. Left 4 Dead already sated my zombie game craving.

If it's like the TV show, then it's going to be like one of those Japanese Anime games where you choose different paths for your soap opera to progress :(

+1

L4D was great. L4D2 was alright. I started, but never completed Dead Island. I'm quickly losing interest in the whole "zombie" craze.

You must be mistaken. This and the L4D series are two entirely different games.

That said, I'm not entirely confident in the quality of TellTale's games anymore. Ever since they started churning out mediocre, licensed games, their quality:quantity ratio has taken a turn for the worse.

Sam & Max was a great series. The Homestar Runner/Strongbad games were decent as well. The Back To The Future games were OK.

And then they made... Jurassic Park? Law & Order? Now they're releasing The Walking Dead? If the quality of their previous couple of licensed games is any indication, then this one's gonna be a disappointment. Shame too, because The Walking Dead is a pretty great TV series.

I wouldn't have minded L4D style gameplay (or at least controls and speed) with the atmosphere in The Walking Dead game, but it looks like its made for the Wii or something.

It's a TellTale game, they don't make FPS titles. They make adventures.

Again, I'm not trying to defend this game (in fact I know it's most likely going to suck), I'm just saying that considering who the developer is, you should know what to expect. They use a very low-budget comic-book style graphics engine. And considering the point-and-click nature of the game, releasing it on Wii actually isn't a bad idea at all.

I take back my comment about this game sucking. It's now my GOTY for 2012.

Same. Got Dead Island for sale on Steam. I loved L4D but after awhile it was almost like forcing myself to fire up Dead Island so that I didn't feel I completely wasted money on it.

For me L4D is still the best "a few friends and lots of beer" type game out there right now, almost like the good ole' days of original UT.

A game about a love triangle between laurie, rick and shane? Laurie driving off by herself to find rick after he just left 5 min before? A game where laurie doesn't see the zombie in the middle of the road and crashes the car?

Me and my brother just finished Telltales Jurassic Park, they'd done an interesting job with it, it's kind of like Heavy Rains cartoony little brother, there's sequences you have to pass through with the right key presses, essentially QTE which I personally don't mind in games (heavy rain I thought was a very good game)

I suspect this will be similar, if so it will be one to play more if you're a fan more than anything, gamers looking for more of a game will probably be disappointed. Telltale do some interesting work I've played most of their games, all the 3 Sam and Max seasons and back to the future and Tales of Monkey island, they do a pretty good job honestly but it just feels like something is lacking, they feel more like games built for kids more than adults is probably the best way to describe it.

I finished the first episode today clocking in around 3 hours. I enjoyed it but it's more of an interactive story than a game. There's some tense moments but it's pretty easy and I didn't die once. The main gimmick is that the story will change depending on the choices you made (i.e. sided with one character over another, saved one person instead of another.) These choices didn't make much of a difference this playthrough since it's the first episode. I just wish the choices extended to the puzzles which can only be solved one way.

For example, about halfway through you have to take down about 5 walkers. There's only one way to do this. Instead I wish they would have had several items laying around so you can take them down in a different way/order.

Overall, I'd recommend it if you're looking for an interactive comic book.

Edit: RPS posted a positive review:

I bought and played most of this, I'm about 93 minutes into the game, and have completed about 68% of the achievements. This game doesn't really follow the comics or the tv show at all.

It almost seems like it follows more of the father and son side of the story from the first episode of the series.

The play style kindof reminds me of those games from the late 90's that were video shooters for the action scenes.

Is this similar to the old point and click Sierra adventure games with some action sprinkled in? Looking for some slower paced games with a good story.
