Sure, if you ignore the realities of what each inherited that would be a great measure. The problem is Obama inherited an economy in complete collapse. The first couple of years of his admin were a fight just to keep the country and it's industries viable. By the end he had reduced annual deficits immensely.

Then came Trump. He inherited a booming economy which has continued on the same pace as when he entered office. It's hasn't accelerated, it's stayed exactly as it was. In that time he has managed to balloon deficits to over a trillion dollars. To be able to do this with what he inherited shows an immense incompetence by him and the GOP in general.
Slow has been told this numerous times. He is either incapable or unwilling to understand any of this. Or both. Definitely both.

An old friend from my hometown, someone who grew up a staunch Christian conservative, voted for a Democrat for the first time in her life in 2018 out of pure revulsion for what the GOP has become. Even better, she and her husband still live in PA so their votes are super important.

She’s still a conservative Christian but in her mind a Christian can’t support the GOP in good conscience while Trump is in charge of it. I was glad to see that for at least two Christians when they said they cared about morality they meant it.

So many people are waking up to the reality of their YUGE mistake there should be a movement and hashtag to let everyone of their IRL friends know they have woken up and that they should, too...

What do you think socialized healthcare, free college, and borders and immigration laws that aren't enforced will do to our deficit?

Obama added about $10 TRILLION to the debt over his eight years. Trump is on a pace to add much less. Far from ideal, but doing better than the past admin.

Point being when times are good the deficit should shrink (see Bill Clinton), when times are bad they should expand.

I voted for Trump.

I will not vote for Trump again. I guess that means I've #walkaway.

That said, I'm not sure if I'll vote democrat though. If they have anybody nominated that is halfway respectable they will get my vote. But from what I'm seeing so far, I'm not holding my breath. My main criteria is the government being owned and operated from Israel. Trump proved that to be true. I will see who pledges allegiance to Israel at AIPAC. If the nominate has gone, I won't vote at all.

Good man, you have standards and you are doing the right thing by stating what you expect.
Personally I’m not a fan of 3rd party protest votes. Hopefully you put some serious consideration into whomever the the D choice or better you vote D for your senator to put the President under some sort of oversight.

According to those here things are terrible under Trump, we're not in "good times." So which is it, the economy is hot with Trump at the helm or it isn't?

Also, the challenges Clinton faced 20+ years ago are not the same as today's hyperpartisan world.

I've done a 3rd party protest vote in the past, too.

Fortunately, it destroyed neither Country, our Democracy, nor our Constitution as it was a local race...

Now if I could only excise the 25% of me that is Russian POS I could be totally absolved as I don't want to spend too much time in Purgatory...

They'll be in the thread I post laughing at the deluded in 2020.

This makes no sense, are you drunk? I'm talking about a personal anecdote of my experience with an old friend. What would that have to do with 2020 outside of her and her husbands' votes?

They are lifelong Republicans who walked away because they can't stand the stench anymore and I'm happy for them. Shows some people have integrity.

I wonder what his user name will be by then...

Can we have a raffle PTB... The Winnar111 wins Internet for the day...

Happy to hear you also know people who admit to have made a mistaken and will rectify it... Seems to be one of the lines of demarcation between the Conservative brain defect and having a fine, working mind... cutting out the necrotic brain tissue and admitting when wrong...

And I'll be laughing at your cheerleading again.

Eh everything is forgivable provided you admit it, which you just did and do something to amend it, which it appears you will.

He also said that back when he was first campaigning. He also told a journalist that "I'm so humble you wouldn't believe how humble I am."
Very Trumpeze, the guy's mind always seems a jumble. If he speaks correct English I always figure he's working off a teleprompter, script written for him by a hireling.

The problem with 3rd party protest votes is that they don't work. The parties don't care if you vote 3rd party. Only a Republican or Democrat will win. If you don't vote for one of them you did not hurt either of them. You vote literally didn't matter at all.

Literally 50% of Americans could vote 3rd party and a Democrat or Republican would not care because one of them would still win. There is 3-4 '3rd parties' in every election and they will end up each with around 16% of the vote at most, leaving the D or R with 20-30% of the vote and the win. The only thing they really worry about is that no one of them get two powerful, so instead of trying to prevent you from voting 3rd party they just try to make sure there are several of them out there for you to spread your votes across. If any one of them starts to get too powerful they find all sorts of systemic blocks in their way from getting on the ballot or taking part in debates, while other third parties find it easier to do those things, and that little interference is enough to spread the votes out.

The more people that vote 3rd party the easier it is for the Democrats and Republicans. Fewer voters makes their job easier because they have to appeal to fewer people.

Which is an absolutely stupid mentality. Trump won on 90k votes spread across 3 states. 3rd party votes in Florida alone were over 250,000. Those votes SUPER mattered.

So two traditional conservative guys I know walked away this week, add that to the two other I know that walked away from Trump last year.
Both these guys hung in at first with tax cuts and immigration stuff but became more quiet over time. They both came to the same conclusion the tax cut they wanted was bullshit and trivial to them, they don’t like the Presidents bluster, lies and putting kids in cages.
Both came out on Facebook, first guy changed his registration to Independent Friday, second guy said I’ve been thinking of that and did it today.

#walkaway is real.

My wife is a traditional conservative gal who was born and raised in the South and usually votes republican. She hated Trump ever since he was elected. Everyday when she reads the news she sees an article on something stupid Trump did and goes on a rant. I say "yes dear, I agree honey, 2020"

So what? That doesn't explain minorities' clear preference for the Democratic Party or our willingness to elect minorities & women to office. That stands in sharp contrast to the GOP.
Apparently they don't understand that actions speak louder than words.
