Russian bots are back: #WalkAway attack on Democrats is a likely Kremlin operation
Are real-life Democrats leaving the party in disgust?

No, but Russian-fueled online trolls want you to think so.

I thought it was Indian and Indonesian trolls this time? Damn, so many troll farms want in on that sweet, dumb American action. Maybe I should hire one for an op aimed at evangelicals:

I’m waiting for China to start backing Democrats, it’s inevitable. Democrats support trade, I know if I was perpetually against an opponent backed by a deep pocket State I wouldn’t turn away help for me from a different deep pocked state.

Not saying that would be right but that’s the way the world works.

Russia and China fighting a proxy war in the U.S.? I guess we traded away our superpower status for pornography, sugar water, and bombs.

Seriously though. Would you be happy with constant losses that you wouldn’t support someone who has China backing them who at least supports some stuff you want.

Dangerous territory we are in and I wish everyone would think about what happens next.

I'd be surprised if it was true in the sense of... social phenomena. I don't think people are leaving in droves.

I do expect some independents who identify with Democrats may be finding excuses to waffle on us. Trump broke the mold on what a Republican is... his message and his lies might have appealed to some folks in 2016. A chance to try some new, wild, thing. Plus the vitriol of modern political conversation may also disgust a few others. I just don't think it's hash tag worthy.

Ergo, the "campaign" of #walkaway definitely smells fishy. Someone takes a half truth and amps it up to 11. To learn that Russia continues to be behind political propaganda in the United States is interesting. I wouldn't mind the CIA investigating and discovering ways to shut that down. Ultimately with a chance to sever Russia from the internet itself.

I also wouldn't mind our State Department coming up with economic retaliation.

The Trump's have deals in/with China. I'm not convinced they give a shit about democrats.

The Cultists don't think, they hate. They can't be made to see logic and common sense has become an enemy of the state to them. Oh yeah, the situation is scary. The cultists see the fear and misinterpret it (in many cases, opportunisticly) as their "wins" regardless of how justifiable and real the fear is.

I don't believe for a minute dems are leaving the party. What I do believe is they like the idea of it but will do no such thing until Trump and his administration are obliterated.

America so desperately wants a legitimate, viable third and/or fourth party option but I'm not sure how that happens with the way it's designed. My husband and I have discussed this many times, we always come to the conclusion that the introduction of a third or fourth party would inevitably and quickly be absorbed by one of the two parties.

I'm really scared that Russian propaganda will have significant effect during this cycle. If we can't break through their efforts soon, Trump & co. will continue to stuff the courts and subvert checks and balances in ways that will seriously imbalance things for years to come or worse.

And if we allow Russian attacks on our democracy to become the new normal, we're begging for it to fall apart.

It's the same message as GOP propaganda in a different wrapper. It's like "Wow! They're tearing their country apart! Let's help 'em out!"

Its funny to think that 1950's America would freak out if this was happening.

fuck just go back to Reagan. What would he think of the Steel dossier, what would he think about known Russian programs to influence our election and its his party that is benefiting.
