How is it retarded? The question came to me doing exactly as described, where I discovered that I actually "miss" my face initially, looking below and to the left of its reflection. I am proposing a theory that people with low self-esteem and plenty of self-hate do such naturally, underestimating their own worth, stature being a defining element of male importance. On the other hand, what if looking up expecting a higher reflected face means that one is used to looking up at others, therefore being a symptom of systemic stance of submission? I need data to develop this hypothesis.
