walk dogs without a leash, get tased bro

I like that an asshole who appears to have given a false name and I assume to be flaunting his unleashed dogs in front of authorities got his ass tazed.

The east bay is more dog friendly. All of the east bay park areas(aroiund 50) allow dogs to be off-leash. Looks like this park was also leash free til a month ago when it became part of a national park, stupid federal rules.

I believe Park Rangers are sworn peace officers in CA, and I'm also assuming she was attempting to make an arrest because the guy refused to identify himself, so my comments are with that in mind.

As long as she gave clear verbal commands and warned him she was going to use her taser then she did everything right. It would have been nice if she could have verbally persuaded him to comply, but refusing to identify yourself to a peace officer leads to arrest, which gets you tased if you continue to resist.

I am constantly amazed at the number of dog owners that behave as if none of the laws, rules, whatever apply to them. That they, and their dogs can go anywhere, attack anything, and crap anywhere... because they are "Special."

Well, I don't think that they are special. I think that they are ignorant (at best).

And in the case of the linked article, it turns out that the dog walker wasn't special... Break some laws. Lie to a police officer? Events indicate that he wasn't special enough.

The gentleman in the news article is very lucky he didn't bump into me 42 years ago when I was walking my German Shepherd Sentry Dog.

But that will never happen now because there are no more Sentry Dogs. They are all dead.

And, I'm not feeling well.

In 1970, Graduating from USARPAC Basic Sentry Dog School, in Okinawa required six week of school... Passing a written exam and passing a performance exam (obedience, tracking, aggression) enabled you to apprentice with a real sentry dog squad as a FNG.

At Dog School, all the "special" people either washed out or ended up in the hospital.

Now, the Sentry Dogs, they were special. And now, they are gone. And the world is a poorer place for that ...

Dog Handlers, we weren't special. We were ordinary guys.

But we did have an extra ordinary experience. An e-ticket ride for sure.

Uh.. I'm pretty sure that 42 years ago he would have had his dogs off leash in a park and gone unmolested by some asshole with a tazer. Or am I missing something. Did you patrol northern california with your German Shepard 😕

Yep, dogs were required to be on leash only at the start of year.

This happened in a big ass park, not on a city street (http://www.nps.gov/goga/rcdt.htm):

Rancho Corral de Tierra (Rancho) is the newest addition to Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

At nearly 4,000 acres, Rancho is one of the largest undeveloped parcels of land on the San Mateo peninsula. Once planned for development, this land is now protected as part of our nation's natural legacy.

No one would have said shit to this dude in 1970, let alone attack him.

Only asshole here was the guy resisting arrest

Once again people expect law enforcement to be selective in what laws they enforce...

Good. People need to quit walking around thinking they're special and that the rules do not apply to them. If the park says leashed dogs only, then leash your fucking dog. That's what I do, whether I like it or not. For me not to do so means I really don't give a fuck about others around me. What if my dog bites a small child or another persons leashed animal, simply because I'm too much of a fucktard to follow the rules and leash my animal.

On top of that, if I'm called out by authorities on my failure to follow rules (and yes, a Park Ranger is an authority, with police powers in many cases. Fuck, they have a hard enough job as it is, they don't need douchebags on top of it) and I still refuse to comply, and even go so far as to provide false information to evade any penalty, then my lily white ass deserves to be tazed.
