They should have gunned this criminal down.

Then made her family pay for the clean up and ammunition used on her.

Some moron at Walgreens thought this was the perfect excuse to get rid of an 18 year employee who couldn't be let go any other way. Shame on Walgreens.

They should triple her salary for working at Walgreens for 18-years, that's dedication.

I hope the lawsuit sets a precedent for stupid things like this.

So she waited 3 years to file a suit, why the delay? Good luck to her. :awe:

I have Walgreens every 2-3 miles around my area. There was one between 96th Ave. and 159th St. but closed years ago due to slow business traffic.

She didn't file the suit, the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission did. My guess is that she registered a complaint with the government agencies way back when and that they're finally getting around to bringing a suit against Walgreens about it.

she had to wait until she could leave her CASHIER'S post to pay for them? derp

well I guess she didn't have money with her lol

It's probably against store policy to buy something on your own register login. Lots of supermarkets have that rule. You buy something, it has to be on another person's drawer.

She'll win this suit easily.

Assuming that the article lists the complete factual background with no distortions, yes.

While the fact that the EEOC is bringing the suit tends to indicate that there's a strong chance of winning, it's generally not a great idea to start predicting success until the information is in from both sides.

eating chips makes it sound like an excuse. Go to the fridge aisle and drink a juice.

She may not have been able to get that far. I've got family members that are diabetic and I've seen attacks come on. It's very fast and disabling (both physically and mentally). I'm not going to begrudge them for grabbing what was probably immediately at hand.

Walgreens will settle this suit easily.

Probably.

I didn't even notice it was the EEOC who brought the suit. They typically won't bring a suit unless their is strong evidence the company violated an employees rights.

I haven't been into a Walgreens for years. Ever since they gave me the wrong medicine (actually put the wrong pills into the correct container) for blood pressure and it caused problems. They paid me some money to keep quiet. Ooos, don't tell anyone.

She likely grabbed the closest thing near her register. I'm sure she can't just walk away from her register/post and go shopping for herself.

They did this to my ex as well and she refused to say anything/sue... she was totally agianst that frivolous type of lawsuit stuff. I told her Walgreens probably would settle....anyway it was an obvious mistake on their part, she required pills for a sports related injury and instead they gave her some liquid to inject in herself or something really absurd. The directions on the container were even wrong and said to basically drink the sh*t. It was crazy.

Potato chips are a pretty good choice to raise your blood sugar level and they were probably right there at the register.

Most walgreens that i've been in, the registers are surrounded by candy... better 'sugar' food.

You need food with high glycemic index to raise your blood sugar fast. Potato chips (potato in general) have higher glycemic index than most candy bars. Chocolate bars like Snickers actually has a pretty low glycemic index but is loaded with "sugar". Just take your body longer to break it down and release it into your bloodstream.

Dick move by Walgreens, but I really don't understand how if there is chance you could die from not having something to eat that you do not have something with you at all times. It would be like having your keys or your wallet with you, except even more important.

1. She should have picked up the phone by her register and asked for someone to come relieve her so she could take a break because she was having medical problems.

2. They shouldn't have fired her.
