i had worked for wal-mart and ment the people that do that per 1 super wal-mart theres usually 2 people that do the specific store and only 1 of them works at any given time during the day, therefore only 1 person is on duty at all times doing that partrolling the entire store and its not likely that they can see everything going on in the whole store, and yes they sucked at it and actually they are instructed to ask you what you think of things if they believe you are shop lifting to try to make you nervous and drop what you heave and leave the store without leaving with the merchandise, although it would be pretty funny to do what tagej said and ask them what they think of items instead of letting them ask you, whether you shop lift or not, also even if you do steal anything they're not allowed to do anything except follow you until you officially leave the store then you've stolen it, then they get to call police.

I know people who work at wal-mart doing the undercover loss prevention crap. Don't expect them to really care about catching anyone, they make like 7 dollars an hour like everyone else.

Yes, they do. What is fun is to actually put item in your pockets and let them see you. Then when you go to check out, just pull it out of your pockets and pay for it. LOL I worked at Wal-Mart in highschool for 2 years. People did this all the time and it REALLY pissed off the undercover guy. LOL It is not even remotely illegal to hide things in your pockets, but it is if you actually walk out of the store with it...so don't forget :)

Hmm... I haven't noticed any of that around here. Maybe I haven't been looking hard enough or maybe the local Wal-Marts and Targets don't bother. I'm not sure of the theft rate in Lansing.

maybe you just don't fit the "profile" so you're not being tracked

Seems probable. I'd like to see a patrol guy hunting down an old lady with a walker and following her around all day.

i was walking around walmart, just for a quick few things to get. and i saw some people like following me. does walmart have undercover people there? for shoplifters?

Not just Wal-Mart. All big chains do this. Not sure if Home Depot does, but Sears, KMart, you name it. They have security on the floor.

Home Depot does. They are called loss prevention

This happened to me once and I decided to start harassing the guy following me so I started asking him (dressed in his plainclothes) where to find things like Preparation H and diapers for men.

You can walk out of the store, the managers can do nothing once you are outside the store.

THEY MUST stop you before you leave to do anything
