yea it is, your stupid ass comparison deserves no more attention than what i gave it.

Obviously you guys are both too idiotic to see the parallel im drawing here, which is the letter of the law in regards to cruelty.

Quit blathering about your 2004 buzzwords about liberals, leftists, or whatnot, you still sound stupid.

I'm sorry but I can't see charging these guys with a FEDERAL crime and ruining their lives over a useless stray cat especially when they did what their boss told them to do.
Seriously. Only problem is if left up to the states, in some places you could probably marry your livestock. Then they could get away with most anything, it being a family matter and all.

I see the parallel, but I have to agree with Citrix. The only idiot with stupid knee-jerk posts I see in this thread is you...

Instead of calling animal control, let's just shoot it!

You have obviously never called animal control for stray cats, have you? I have. Their response is "cats are too hard to catch there is nothing we can do". So my response was " so, you are telling me that you will not do anything and I HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM MYSELF"....to which she replied "I didn't say that sir, I just said we can do nothing unless you bring us tha animal". Guess what.....I took care of the problem myslf.

Shooting a cat 4 times over 2 days might be considered animal cruelty and I see the point there but if you cannot discharge a real firearm in the area, animal control won't do anything, and you aren't a great shot with a pellet gun then there is going to be a problem. They should have aimed for the head and kept at it until the job was finished but a wounded cat is not going to sit there and let you shoot it AGAIN. Better yet, they simply should have live trapped the animal and then dumped it on animal control (effectively doing their job for them). I'm sorry but I can't see charging these guys with a FEDERAL crime and ruining their lives over a useless stray cat especially when they did what their boss told them to do. If all the loosers in this world would just spay and neuter their stupid pets instead of doing nothing and then dumping the unwanted animals that result from natural fluffy fornication on the general pouplation there wouldn't be a problem in the first place.

Excellent response.

Hmm let's change some words around, instead of cats replace it with people. What if there was a homeless guy living in the shed, is it still okay for them to shoot the guy with a pellet gun and shrink wrap him in the dumpster because the police couldn't arrive?

You compare shooting a cat vs. shooting a human?? (You have got to be kidding me!!)

Turn off your dad's computer son and go play your Xbox.

Cats aren't people. Dogs aren't people. Horses aren't people. You are comparing apples to oranges.

I don't understand what is going on with America today. When did we all become such pussies. (no pun intended) If there is a stray animal around that you don't want around, take out a gun and kill it. Animal control Animal control... waaa waaa waaa. Man it is a damn cat not a person. So it gets away after you shoot it and takes a day to die. Who cares? It is a damn cat. What the hell? If you ask me these guys were just doing there job. Ideally it would have been nice to use a .22 to the head and dispose of it then. But, obviously these guys either did not have one to use or they were afraid of injuring someone.

mad

I have shot probably 5 or 6 cats, a couple dogs and racoons, 3 skunks and countless seagulls.
Of course I lived on a farm, and we're not exactly going to let these animals eat the turkeys.

It's not like they exhaused their resources looking for a socially acceptable and paid-for-by-taxes, not to mention possibly more humane solution. GOB just fired up his minions with a couple of pellet guns and set 'em loose. Who cares it's just a cat? Plenty of people.. plenty of paying customers for that matter. I would not want someone in charge of my store if they don't have the forethought to take care of a matter without resorting to 2-3 day shooting adventures ending in shrink wrapping and dumping the carcass.

I'll make this simple, since you think you have an argument here. You can legally kill and animal on your property, as long as it's not cruel (like shooting it 4 times over 2 days). You cannot legally kill a person on your property without other cause no matter what the method.

The only issue is the cruelty part with taking 2 days to kill the animal. Had they used a shotgun or a .22, I don't think charges would be filed.

Except that in most municipalities, you'd still go to jail for discharging a firearm within city limits...

Just another example of the catch-22 that most of our laws provide.

Yes, however, those places also have animal control. If animal control doesn't do it's job, that's a seperate matter.

However, there are even other solutions if animal control won't come out. There are traps they could have set (provided by animal control). They could have caught it themselves by throwing a blanket over the cat since it wouldn't leave a confied area. This couldn't have been hard.

I want to see you try that one with a cat Einstein. HAHAHAHAHAHA

Vanderburgh Co. Sheriff's Department Lt. Kenny Roy said, "I think it's cruel. We say it's a cat, and that they shot it and left it in the trailer. I don't think it's any different had it been a human being."

Is this guy also likening the cat to a human as discussed above?

It would have been completely unacceptable and cruel if it was a human being. It is still cruel to do this to a cat, but you cannot simply compare the cat to a human being. This topic has been expounded upon above, but I would just like to point out this lieutenant's comments.
