cheapherk,

Did they have any more? I live in Philadelphia, and I can go to the Kenneth Square one.

The attendant came over and took it to customer service. She came back with it and stated it would be $1.25

I'll bet customer service said it was one twenty five ( 125 ). Meaning $125.00.
Your stupid attendant took it for 125 cents. ( $1.25 )

You did well.

A little off topic, but why on earth would Wal-Mart sell video cards? Do they really expect that someone will go there to upgrade their computer? I suppose that some people will, but I am guessing that a large portion of specialized items like this end up going on clearance.

I picked up 4 5200 128mb for $4.00 each Friday. Cashier tried to pay me $20 not to buy one.

TI 4200 for $144. Maybe the reason for carrying computer components is that every now-and-then a non-computer-person actually buys overpriced, out-dated equipment. But do Walmart and other stores that dabble in carrying a small selection of computer components actually make a profit? Did they buy the stuff at higher prices and then hold on to it for three or four years? That TI 4200 is probably priced at where it was when it was on the shelves five years ago.

In the case of Walmart, Walmart has so much money that poor computer component purchasing and marketing probably wouldn't be noticeable enough for the company to care.

Video card selection and pricing at almost all bricks 'n' mortar stores is a huge joke. The prices aren't even close to what can be found at, say, NewEgg.

You didn't see any PCI-e cards that have bang for the buck, did you? :p

I stopped by 3 walmarts today. 2 had the AIW card for 125. All three had just the 9200 for the same price. I was interested in the AIW but not for 125.

Does walmart follow any kind of a mark down schedule? Should I check back in a week or so to check price or do they keep it there til its gone?

For the most part, there is no national markdown, actually not even a district mark down on items for walmart. The first discounted price is usually knocking the cents off to make it an even price.

Outta curiousity, how is this hot?

Follow up question...why would you even consider a 9200 now when you can snatch up a 9800pro for around $100 shipped now used on the forums here?

Well, one person on this thread got a video card for $1.25...Now, granted, it was probably a pricing mistake, but I'll bet if you ask him, it was pretty hot...

And some people are actually looking for an ultra-cheap video card to throw in a rig...

I kinda miss the "old days" around here where if even one person scored a deal it was cause for celebration rather than luring out the thread-crappers...I can't even think about ValuAmerica without a tear welling in my eye...

There are $125 around me. I don't consider that hot. If I can get one for $80-100 I would jump on one of the ATI AIW and consider it a very warm deal. It would be a nice step up from my 8500 AIW.
