You're talking about jobs at fucking Walmart. These aren't exactly once in a lifetime, can't get any better than this, must fight for my job type of employment.
For alot of folks this is probably all they can aspire to. It's all they can get, hang on to and hope for a promotion, raises, better working conditions, etc. I respect them for wanting to work rather than living off of welfare. Don't you? Isn't that what many of you who despise freeloaders always point to? To get a job? ANY job? Well, there they are. They work for a living and live for the American dream just like the rest of us. For many, it may be a starting point to a better life. For others it's that job at Walmart or starvation. For others still, it's a chance for steady work that could be made into a living IF they could just have a little more than Walmart is willing to give. Rather Walmart would have us taxpayers foot the bill for what they should provide in all fairness.
I'm not trying to deny them anything turd face. I'm stating the American public is denying them this because the American public demands low priced Chinese junk.
The American public wants Wal-Mart to hire unskilled masses to work for low wages because it keeps prices down and that's what America values right now.
It failed to do shit and it will continue to do shit until Americans stop fucking over their fellow Americans. Good luck with that.
I understand. And my wife would be very angry with you if I told her what you called me, but only because she feels that only she has the right to call me that nasty moniker you tagged me with.
And yes, Americans pay for cheap shit, and many of them buy cheap shit not because that's all they're willing to pay, but instead it's all they can afford to pay because they work for businesses that only pay cheap wages just like Walmart. Less pay = more profit. Walmart is not only exploiting their employees, they're exploiting the very folks who buy their products and here's how they do it: Like I previously mentioned, Walmart makes every taxpaying citizen pay for their employees health care through the hospital emergency room and through other social services that our gov't provide.
Add to that, Walmart, through its marketing and wage scale strategies are depressing wages wherever they set up shop. They kill off small businesses that paid better wages by undercutting them and then monopolize the surrounding area. A good business plan you say? Sure, if all you're interested in is padding your investment portfolio. However, as a result, the standard of living in the surrounding area goes down. The flow of $$$ now channels toward investors instead of folks who just want to make a decent living. The circulation of currency dries up within the community and flows to Walmart Corporate headquarters.
In direct contrast, there's Costco that employs union members. They seem to be doing just fine. Walmart, if they chose to, would do just fine as well. And if Walmart did allow union membership, then everyone would benefit from it, both customers and employees.
It's not so much what Americans are willing to pay. It's how money sucking machines like Walmart monopolize a region and get its customers addicted to whatever Walmart, and Walmart alone, determines what they will offer and at what price they offer their products at.
