Tesla is still taking orders. That doesn't mean it's not cancelled though.

Where is my Cybertruck, anyway? It's been almost 3 years at this point.

Rvian's are all over the place here in Silicon Valley - finally saw my first R1S. Beady headlights give em away!

Ford expecting to produce 150,000 F150 electrics with sales set to begin in just a few months. The Tesla truck hype might have waned significantly without them being first to market.

Rivian actually did deliver. Funny thing is I used to consider them vapourware since I kind of figured they were going under, but I'll give them credit where it's due, the product actually delivered. There are Youtube videos of people picking theirs up and everything.

Crazy money though, I wish I had that kind of money to just throw at a vehicle. It looks like a really nice truck but still can't justify that kind of money. Maybe once the mortgage is paid off I could justify it, maybe. Basically whatever money went towards the mortgage would just go towards paying it off.

Realistically though I'm more likely to put that sort of money into my property and building a shop and and tools for it, then do an EV swap myself.

I played with their "build" tool...I was quickly up to $92,000 and was just getting started. (Quad motors, extended range battery) I colsed it and left the site.

Lol yep, and that's American dollars. So looking at well over 100k after conversion, and taxes etc too.

There does seem to be a huge demand for trucks these days, as yeah even gas ones are crazy expensive. What I'd love to see is an electric mini truck that is reasonably priced but probably not going to happen.

Price of steel and copper is through the roof too so that is probably affecting car prices as well.

Truck prices are insane. And then those people that pay a house mortgage for their trucks will bitch about gas prices.

Dude...I've bitched about gas prices since the arab oil embargo in...1973.

@Red Squirrel Take a look at the all new 2022 Ford Maverick. While not a full EV the base engine is a 2.5l hybrid that gets 42 mpg city and the XL trim starts at $21,500 USD.

EDIT: I also forgot to mention that is also available in Canada which I think that is where you're from right?

I call this my Anti-Tesla, or the opposite of a Cybertruck. It has a 1962 V-8 327 cubic inch engine. 3 speed manual transmission. It rumbles and is kind of loud. Not sure of the gas mileage, hope it is double digits, but I doubt it. You can smell the gas while it is idling. Manual steering, manual brakes, manual windows. The speedometer is an app on my phone.

While as cool as that truck is there is no way in hell I would ever want to daily it. WAY to inefficient and lacks sooo many safety features and sooo many creature comforts that modern vehicles offer.
An yeah I know some of you guys are gonna say "I don't need any of that crap just give me a vehicle that I can just drive." and to that I say bullshit.

You can get a restomodded truck like that with ice cold AC and wireless Apple CarPlay if you want it.

Yeah sure, and ABS, SRS, four-wheel disk brakes, side curtain SRS, 30 mpg, heated seats, heated steering wheel, power mirrors, locks, and windows.......omg the list could go on and on but how much are you willing to spend to restomod a truck like that to give you modern amenities and safety features?
