Waiting for stepping E0 X4... but for how long?

I've built several Phenom II X4 for family but would like my next PC to be an E0 stepping Thuban X4 or X3. If it's too far out I may have to build with a C3 stepping.

ok, so if I'm gonna try to wait for the next new CPU product from AMD which would that be?
Unless you are interested in Llano / otherFusion products, you would be waiting for a long time for Bulldozer, their next flagship products, most likely near the end of 2011.

In the interim, there may be other Thuban products, perhaps small clockspeed bumps as what happened with the Athlon II / Phenom II X2/X4 lines.

Since there is no guarantee of an E0-stepping X4 product, you may have to come back to your backup plan of getting a C3 Phenom II X4, if you really do not want an X6.

Personally, if I were in your shoes, I may just content myself with a 1055T, since it is close enough in pricing to the Phenom II X4 965, and it seems that the E0 stepping works wonders for it in terms of overclocking (if you do).

AMD hasn't made an announcement to introduce low-k metal to their other processors. This is the key difference between Deneb and Thuban right now, and the reason they fit 6 cores in the same power envelope. Only announcement they made, is that the X4 (Thuban with 2 cores disabled/defective) will only be OEM if they released it, because they don't want to loose sales of their high end parts to people unlocking cores.

Doubtful there will be E0 stepping X4. There isn't really a place for it in AMD's line-up, price-wise. They will also confuse the users because it's very likely a BIOS flash is required since they're new stepping, even if they'd have the same moniker (X4) like 955/965.

If yields are good or demand is high then that'd be a factor as well.
