I just bought a brand new computer (athlon 1800xp, soltek drv5, 256 pc2100 ram (yeah not ddr333 oh well), 40gig ata133 maxtor hd, 19" samsung 950p, antec 1030B case w/300w ps) and its sitting in my room collecting dust until my damn geforce4 ti4400 arrives! I bought the computer on sat. march 16th, and I have been waiting all week for any local stores to get a geforce4 ti4400 in but.. No-one. Not one store in all of BC, Canada has this video card! Its sooo frustrating. So anyways today I called the local electronics botique and got them to do a 'special order' for me, and so I've paid for a visiontek gf4 ti4400 and have to wait another week (and hopefully ONLY a week) for this card to come in. I cry myself to sleep
. I havent even been able to test if the new computer can boot properly since I have no vid card (or atleast thats what I've assumed..). My new worry is that this visiontek card isnt going to fit on my soltek DRV5 board, and if that is the case I really will break down
. The IDE connectors are pretty close to where the gf4 will extend, but the cables are long and should fit overtop of it fine. I just hope this board doesnt have the same problem that the epox one has with those capacitators, although it seems unlikely that should happen. Does anyone else have a soltek drv5 + geforce4 combo and can you put my fears to rest?
Anyways thats my situation, and its oh so painful to wait. I sure hope its worth the wait, and also I hope that nothing goes wrong with my system when I finally... FINALLY.. get to press that power-on button!
