Waiting for KT333 or ??? and KG7 Q

I've seen very few KT333 boards out, with the ASUS A7V333 being apparently the most well developed/fastest board so far. Does anyone know if/when Abit is planning to release a board based on this chipset? And are there any comparisons between the KT333 chipset performance versus the KT266a performance? I have an Abit KG7 mobo right now and I'm not sure that it would be worth the cost to upgrade.

Also, is anyone using the current bios for the KG7-Raid? What is the highest multiplier setting it allows? I was thinking that if I don't have to go with a new board I may just flash the bios and install an XP2200+ when they're available.

The KG7-Raid is an awesome board, even if it isn't the fastest around anymore.

There is no difference between the KT266A and KT333 for performance. Both are faster than the AMD760 on the KG7, but I'm not sure it's enough to justify an upgrade just yet. Anand did a review of the KT333, so look there for more info.

Those differences are insignificant. If you're deciding between an Asus 266A or 333 you might as well get the 333(especially since they ditched that ARX fan), but the Abit 266A is still better than either. All 3 are very good though.

I've been a big fan of Abit boards but I've been reading that the KR7A has some problems with the soundblaster Audigy. So I may just stick with my KG7 if the bios will allow me to run an XP2200+ or more on it.

Do you guys know how the KT333/XP2100+ combination stacks up against a P4 oc'd out to 2.4ghz on a DDR board? From what I see it would be cheaper to oc the P4 but if going to the Athlon processor would kick it's ass then I may go back that way.

no guarantee you will be able to overclock the p4 (true that most are good overclockers, some totally suck though)

personally i would take the athlon, but i would probably get a 1700+ or 1800+ and unlock it and overclock the ah heck 😀

No problems here other than the ones caused by Creative's godawful drivers.
