Wait, so now we got a new label "hipsters"

SSSnail

From the random examples that I've seen around, who the hell gave these idiots that nomenclature? Hipsters, as the name implies, should exude some sort of "hip-ness" to it, not retardation.

Can we just call them emo's that went full retard? I think Remo's (retarded emo's) would be pretty catchy. What do you guys think?

They have gone full retard... but it is out of a desire to have no emotions at all; Emos, for example, would enjoy spaghettios girl (you see one in the video), hipsters would say something like "yay ART!" ironically? at the end of it

"Yeah, He's good.."
"dude are you being sarcastic?"
"I don't even know any more man..."

FYI this label isn't new in the least. It's been around for at least 20 years.

Hey SSSnail, have you heard about these new things they're coming out with, called "Compact Discs"? They're like records, but shiny! 😀

Yeah, but it's been used much more in the last 3-4 years to describe the "counter" culture of fixed gear bikes, ratty clothes, PBR, trucker hats, and ironic t-shirts.

Anyone see the hipster olympics on youtube? that was pretty good.

1. The term has been around for a couple of decades. Wake up and smell the internet.

2. Hipsters strive for an aura of ironic detachment, the epitome of being "cool." As such, they are almost the complete opposite of emos.

Kramer is an example of a hipster doofus.

weird, I usually associated 'hipster' with apple fanatics buying all the latest apple crap useful or not

I'm not talking about the "old" hipsters, I'm talking about the "new" hipsters. You've seen them, these tweeny punks, those. You know, those with a lot more douchy-ness and a lot less "trust fund checks".

hipsters do do that. they think it makes them unique because they hate shiny baubles, but the only thing they care about are shiny baubles and how much their shiny baubles are better than yours. get one like them, they'll declare it shit and move on to the next stupid shiny bauble they over paid for. Hipsters really are shitty. I hate on hippies a lot, but hipsters are 10x's worse.

hipsters are ironic beer drinkers. they play ironic softball. if that doesn't describe what you're talking about, then you're not talking about hipsters. hipsters definitely are not an outgrowth of emos.
