I dont know...

it was a very little stronger than 3080, but the Ti is always the "flagship version".. but it is not the case on this situation? because only a little stronger..

I am in dilemma because I dont know if I play on 1440p/4K ... and some people say that the 10GB VRAM is not bad and good for years..

and some other say differently.. that 20GB of the Ti is very important for the future..

I think that I want play on the highest settings for 3-4 years..

Or it was better decision buying 6800XT right now?

what you think? it is stupid decision by nvidia release better version after only a few months later..

Keep, surely? It might be very hard to get those replacements at the moment.

I can't think why the 3080ti (or others) would reduce your sales price notably if you wanted to move then. Although I'd honestly wait until you hit actual problems, if you ever do :) There'll be another generation round in 18-21 months or so etc etc.

Why? or better decision is to buy 6800XT?

You'll have to wait to buy that as well I'm afraid.

I wouldn't worry much about it. The 3080 Ti isn't going to be better than a 3090 and we already know how close the 3080 is to that. Some may disagree, but I don't think the 3080 will have serious VRAM limitations either.

If you can pick one up, I'd get it. If nothing else you'd be able to sell it at or above what you paid if you do decide to upgrade to a 3080 Ti later.

I went out and bought the RTX 3080 because of the RTX 3090's performance. I presume the 3080 Ti will be slightly worse and cost at least $1000, unless Nvidia is extremely aggressive on pricing. But it'll be what, 10-15% faster? Basically, I doubt the pricing will match its performance.

Based on the 3090 5-10% I'd guess. For probably $300 more. I guess if your ram anxiety is really high, sure. I'd just pocket the money and upgrade a little sooner if it starts to be a problem.

I'll probably wait for it. I don't have any immediate need for a new card, and the existing cards aren't going to be widely available until then anyway. If I happen to come across a 3080 I might go ahead, but won't be putting in much effort to find one.

Waiting for a 6800XT to appear in decent sotck and normal price. If the 3080Ti shows first maybe I will go with it. 3080 is out of question because of the 10GB of vram since I play in 4K. Almost 3 years with my 11GB 1080Ti and not going downgrade the vram.

But here in BRazil the thigs are crazy. The firts $650 6800XT were more expensive that the first $700 3080 here. So, what the retailers did to fix it? Increased the 3080 prices. LOL

And the 6800 here is the same price or less that a 3070.

This is cursed GPU generation. At least RTX 3060 Ti offers somewhat acceptable price/performance ratio and it's probably the easiest to buy so I went with one. When RTX 3080 Ti is actually available for a sane price next gen cards are likely around the corner... Or Intel has their top dog unleashed.

Compared to my previous GTX 1070 I'm not too happy about same VRAM count but at least it's 2x faster and has better NVENC and AV1 decoding. Should be good enough until the next generation.

I am in the same situation. Told myself I would wait until January but the 3080Ti was now pushed to release or be announced sometime in February.

What I've been doing is trying to get a 3080 for now. Becuause stock won't be any better by the time the Ti model is out.

So my plan is keep my 1080ti for now, try to go for a 3080 and if I get one, sell it when the 3080Ti is out and just live off of the 1080Ti until I can get the 3080Ti.

Annoying process but I also want to keep the next card I get for a good 3-4 years.

Never ever sell your GPU before you get the one you want has been the lesson from the past few months. I let go of my 2080 ti for 725 and was stuck with a loaner 2070 S before I could finally snag a 3070 and then A 3080, the fomo and desperation were real. A lot people sold their 2080 Tis for 500 right before Ampere launch and yeah they got punked alright.

Yup that happened to my friend as well. He had to buy a whole new pre built pc to get a 3080 lol.

I am keeping my 1080Ti if I get a 3080 and then when I end up selling the 3080 I'll swap to the 1080ti while I try and get a Ti model.

I guess there may be a 16GB 3070ti at some point, with performance between the 3070 and 3080 which would make it a pretty good 4K gaming card. And it will cost a lot less than $1000 you'd hope.

3080ti is going to be $999 I'm sure.

3080TI maybe going to perform same as 3080.. only the different is the vram.

A quick google search shows the 3070TI as being GA104. I didn't realize the 3070 was cut down. I wonder if they'll bump the memory up to 16 Gbps as well. That's a card I'd consider for 1440p assuming the price is ~ $600.

The 3080ti is supposed to be coming in February, I believe its going to be completely out of stock for at least 1 more month after launch, so at the earliest you would be able to get it in late March, that is 3 months down the line.

Buying now though has its own issues though, there is barely any stock and cards are upwards of $100 over MSRP, in some cases even more.

Realistically I think 10GB is more than enough for 4k max setting gaming for the next year WITHOUT ray tracing! Yeah, I do think Nvidia is running it really close to the red line, yeah they are screwing you on the vram so that you upgrade next year with their RTX 4000 series which has 16GB of vram, but for the next year I don't think a significant number of games will require more than 10GB of vram WITHOUT ray tracing! Considering that ray tracing tanks performance anywhere from 25% to 50%, its not even worth it to enable it anyways, 10GB of vram or 20GB of vram, its just too demanding for current gen hardware!
