my bro is thinking about going to college for this.

On Tuesdays you get to write tickets for jaywalking.

On Wednesdays its "click it or ticket" enforcement.

On Thursdays you get to spend all day in traffic court.

On Fridays more speeding tickets.

On Saturdays all hell breaks loose and you go where you are needed.

On Sundays you get to take the day off by working as a "rent a cop".

My girlfriend's best friend got a BS in Criminal Justice, and went on for an MS in that or something along those lines. She is about to start a job as a criminal profiler or something in upstate NY.

let's just say, full ride to Iowa for football, 5 year scholarship, Defensive Lineman.

graduated in 3 years with a 4.0, and now is doing his masters, all while playing football.

graduated in 3 years with a 4.0, and now is doing his masters, all while playing football.

can you do that?

No but I can work full-time, pay my own way through undergrad in a semi-valid major, raise a great family, continue to get a law degree and subsequently a great paying job. 😛

There are probably hundreds of intelligent football players just as there are hundreds of ncaa football players that "graduate" without even learning how to read. I would bet that there are more of the latter than the former.

Engineering is a really interesting subject to study. I just don't want to be stuck in a dark office the rest of my life.

I don't think you have to have a BS to become a patrol officer. I guess it depends on the state or county. With a BS, couldn't you become a detective or do you need a few years as a regular patrol officer?

Usually doesn't matter. It varies department to department on what they want to hire. I know most departments around me require at least 60 hours college credit, many are starting to move towards a BS, but not a specific one.

As for advancement...detective is usually based on senority and whether or not you want the job. Many departments also have some sort of test or recomendation system, as not everyone makes a good detective.

If you're going to criticize RKS for a spelling error (which is more a typo than a true spelling error) and you are going to include punctuation at the end of your sentences, then perhaps you may wish to consider capitalizing the first word of each sentence. Agreed. There are two subsets in the group of college players who can't read: those who play football, and those who play basketball.
