Which is the superior breakfast grain application? Waffles, crisp and golden delicious? Light and fluffy buttermilk pancakes? Paper thin crepes plain, or perhaps with some fruit stuffing?

I need to know the consensus for...reasons.

ugh, i cannot decide, and make each a few times a year.
i probably make crepes more. cheese and sausage, or fruit and honey/yogurt

but buttermilk pancakes are fricking great
and chicken and waffles is just comforting.

Crepes - the taste of surrender in every bite

Pancakes - Can be acceptable, but can also be leaden weights suitable for ship ballast

That leaves waffles which were placed here by the gods, and have win in every bite.

I don't participate in public polls.

Well, you can put a pancake on the head of a bunny so they have that going for them...

Although, I suppose you could also put a waffle on the head of a bunny so that doesn't really solve anything.

I love all three. Why we have to choose just one? :colbert:

I googled these but am still confoosed.

These are savory muffins?

Also, I heard Gordon Ramsay talking about Yorkshire pudding, it appears that is also a bread thing. Fuckin' weird ass Brits.

I own 3 waffle-makers, so I guess I'm biased :awe:

Yorkshire pudding = popover. You can do them either sweet (fruit, custard, whipped cream) or savory (with gravy & meat or like chicken salad as a stuffing). Basically you just get a cupcake tin, fill each cup with a bit of oil & preheat it for 15 minutes, then pour the batter into the hot oil cup & put it back in the oven. It puffs up hollow & is pretty tasty. They can either bready or eggy depending on how you make them, they're actually pretty good & super easy to make (you can make the batter in your blender, which is what I do). AB to the rescue as usual:

Crepes - the taste of surrender in every bite

I've been experimenting a lot over the past year with healthy versions of junk food. You can actually do some amazing things with crepes that don't involve refined sugar. This is the crepe recipe I've been using lately:

http://stupideasypaleo.com/2013/08/23/simple-paleo-tortillas/

For the cream filling, I use cashew cream (just blend cashews, water, and a natural sweetener like maple syrup), then throw in some banana, berries, and optionally cinnamon. Pretty decent! Plus you're getting 2 eggs per crepe (protein), cashews (good fats), and fruit (fiber), so it tastes good AND has some health benefits

I'll take a waffle or french toast over pancakes and crepes if given the choice.

What about French toast??

Also, for the record, probably my favorite breakfast carb of all time is IHOP's stuffed French toast. It's basically a puffed panini stuffed with either pie filling or sweet Ricotta-ish cream cheese:

I've seen it done with almost a mousse-like frosting inside too:

Waffles all the way. Those little pockets to hold peanut butter and syrup are the best.

Waffle > pancake > crepe

It's the thickness and inner air pockets that make or break things. The waffles has more nooks and crannies than the pancake and the pancake is thicker and fluffier than the crepe.

Although this debate is not complete without freedom toast, so the real order is

Waffle > freedom toast > pancakes > crepe

Dammit, now I want waffles!!
