Dunkin' Donuts debuts waffle sandwich

Dunkin' Donuts, the Canton-based coffee-and-baked-goods chain, said it is introducing a waffle breakfast sandwich as part of a larger effort to give customers more breakfast choices.

In a press release, Dunkin' Donuts described the new entree as an "oven-toasted sandwich featuring cherrywood smoked bacon, scrambled eggs, and American cheese between two maple-infused waffles" that is available through March 17 at participating shops at a suggested retail price of $2.99.

According to the chain's executive chef, "the new Waffle Breakfast Sandwich is a significant milestone in Dunkin' Donuts' more than 50 year heritage of breakfast innovation," a company press release said.

"Today's customer demands a wider variety of quick, delicious breakfast choices," said the chef, Stan Frankenthaler, in a statement.

The waffle sandwich's continues Dunkin' Donuts' recent introductions of breakfast options, including Egg White Flatbread Sandwiches in 2008, the chain said.

Separately, Dunkin' Donuts said that small Lattes will be available, for 99-cents, at all participating shops throughout the New York Tri-State area

There's a waffle van right outside my school, and a Dunkin' Donuts down the block (had a Southwest Chicken flatbread for lunch - not bad). I'm might try that sandwich, but that DD has a bunch of incompetent South Asian employees with thick accents*.

*No offense intended

I'll be trying that this Friday.

The only thing I hate about Dunkin is there coffee is as addictive as crack and I can't afford to buy it every morning :(

They had me until "maple-infused"
Gotta keep my syrup separate from my meats.

And of course there's no DDs here.

You obviously have not had a McGriddle

McGriddle is crap. McMuffin is so much better.

A pattern I do not plan on breaking.
If I don't like syrup on my eggs and sausage when I'm just having a regular breakfast, why would it be any different in sandwich form?

McGriddle is awesome tasting, but is like pure havok to my stomach: I get reflux/heatburn for like 5 hours after eating that :(
McMuffin tastes good, and is a pretty good value. I avoid eating from McDonalds normally, though.

I eat fast food about .5-1 times per month. I get destroyed by it as well. I'm craving a McMuffin right now though.

I was the exact opposite. I thought it would be good until I tried it. I couldn't even finish whole thing.

Mmm, sometime this week we're making pancakes + sausage at home. Delicious combo.
