The fire was started and they were resisting arrest to begin with. I can't really feel sorry for anyone that died in it(including the children) because they were being molested and beaten and refused to tell their parents. You can say they and their parents were "brainwashed" all you want, but it is a known fact that numerous families and individuals left the compound and/or the group once they saw the patter of physical and sexual abuse. I have no sympathy for anyone that holes up in a fvcking compound and listens to a religious nutjob. You know I can feel sorry for anyone under 12 that died... but other than that fvck em. Plus, you are asking me to feel sorry for felons that were offered a chance to surrender. Not gonna happen.

So to sum up your view their alleged lawbreaking meant that their Constitutional protections can be trashed because you found their actions offensive? Since the government made sure that very few of them were around to actually face the charges no "felons" were offered a chance to surrender. Any rational person would agree that the proper course of action for them would have been to surrender to the authorities and use the legal system to defend their actions however that does not give the government the right to play judge and jury on the spot and issue what effectively became an order of execution.

don't forget ruby ridge...

and who said the davidians fired first? don't forget the flir video of the people running out of the burning buildings only to be shot by "govt" agents.

Also more federal agents were found to be killed by friendly fire than by Davidian gunfire. Most were shot in the back as they attempted to approach the house.

Before I realized the date, I was reading this going, "Wow, for a P&N post in the wrong forum, this thread is really sane. I am proud of the people posting in it. Then I realized that the thread was 7 years old, back when OT didn't suck. I cried a little.

I tried giving DrPizza a infraction for posting in the wrong forum, but apparently you can't do that automatically. I had to settle for giving YOyoYOhowsDAjello one for Thread Necro.

Way to miss the point of the thread, bud.

so the point of the OP was not inform about a show that calls into question the actions taken by the feds on a group of "poor, defenseless" religious nut bags that not only put their own lives in jeopardy but those of their children as well? and also calls into question who actually started the fire that killed said nut bags?...yeah I completely missed that point and was waaaay off base in my original statement.

Automatic weapons started the fire?

Yes, when the cult members initially shot the DEA agents on the roof during the initial attempt to take the members into custody. Shoot (and kill) officers and you are asking for everything in their arsenal.

When we used to do SWAT training, as soon as bodily harm was imminent, or an injury/death was inflicted, it was a green light for the team to do their jobs.

I watched quite a bit of this (including the actual start of the fire) live back when it was going on. A few people managed to escape in the days leading up to the final siege, but Koresh kept the rest of them contained...really sad story for everybody involved.

I thought it was the ATF agents who went in first with the warrant, some were killed, then the FBI came in for the siege?

7 years later and i just watched it on netflix instant.

(if it's the 1997 "waco: Rules of engagement" documentary you watched... It seems to be based on your description)

i was thinking about making a thread about it when i searched and found this one, so bump-a-roo 😛

go see it, atot.
ban!

Damn, I remember this like it was yesterday🙁

I was watching live on the tube the day of the seige and it was windy as hell that day, sustained winds of 30-40mph and my first thoughts when I saw the tanks moving in and start bashing the building were "Oh hell, that place is about to go up like a roman candle" and within minutes they were toast so to speak

Bill Hicks was there (along with Tim McVeigh, though I am sure, not together). He says he WITNESSED the tanks shooting flames into the building. Good enough for me. His "jokes" about the government massacre are priceless.

🙁

I guess I should have just made a new thread (with a less inflammatory title 😛 )

I was listening to a podcast episode of "Double Feature" and they were commenting on the idea that most young people today had no idea was the Waco incident was about.

I knew it had something to do with a standoff, but being only 26 years old, I thought I'd watch the documentary when I saw it on Netflix instant.

I'm not one to buy into conspiracy theories without what I feel is compelling evidence, but this documentary presented the possibility of the event being a huge cover up of a terribly planned ATF assault seemed to have some legs. There was even a nice appearance by a much younger Joe Biden 😛

The episode of "Double Feature" included the results of a very informal poll conducted by a fan of the show and of 11 people they asked, only 1 person had any idea what Waco was about.

Considering the AT crowd, I thought it would be interesting to get another generation's opinion on this documentary.

The documentary came out in 1997, so the original thread was about 6 years after it came out... which put this 6-7 year necro bump on track for a second look :awe:

Next time I'll avoid the search function and just make a new one :sneaky:
