Wacked out cooling

Okay guys, I installed a new hard drive in spot where my floppy drive was installed. I left a space between my two harddrives and I didn't have an extra 3.5" drive slot cover so I left it open. Now my CPU temp droped down like 3 degrees. It just seems a little strange to me.

Now there is a gap for additional air exchange. Of course the temperature will drop a little.

But the extra drive should be heating the air in between the two drives.

Plus when I took off my fron cover before and that spot was open, the CPU heated up.

Well what program are you using to measure temps and what mobo is it?

Its not a problem I just found it funny.
