Wachovia now offers Free Online Bill Pay with
all checking accounts including Free Checking with no minimum balance or direct deposit required

Pretty good deal to use this for your checking account and link it to IGN for savings.

Only other B & M bank I know of with free online bill pay is Bank of America, but their accounts
require either direct deposit or $750 minimum balance otherwise there's a $6 monthly fee.

With Wachovia, you don't have to worry about fees!

I believe washington mutual has free online bill pay as well. My gf uses it all the time with her account, and I know for sure she has no minimum balance requirement and no direct deposit requirement.

personally, I go all online with banking--firstib.com for checking and ingdirect for savings

Jono8 is correct. WAMU has free online Billpay with free checking. Also Principalbank has Free online checking with Billpay and they will give you $50 if you open an account with them. There is a $100.00 minimum deposit.

$50.00 free from Principal bank

Click on the power right where it says "Open an online checking account"

This is what their website says:
"Limited time offer. $100 minimum initial deposit required to receive $50 bonus. $50 bonus available only for new accounts applied for on or after April 19, 2004, and will be paid only on one account per person or per household. Valid email address required. Deposit bonus will be provided within 30 days of account opening and funding. $50 account closing fee if funds are not left on deposit for at least six months"

I signed up with them two years ago because of the $50.00 and I've kept it open since. I use the Billpay feature and it is also free.

Cool, I've had an account with Wachovia for a while now, and I've been nothing but happy with it. I think the Bill Pay was like $5-$10 a month when I signed up. I haven't had any use for it yet, no bills for me, but this should come in handy later on, and another reason to stick with Wachovia.

Thanks. I could use the $50.

I have BillPay with BofA for a while now. It saves me a lot of money in stamps alone and not to mention that I haven't re-ordered any checks in over 3 years.

I got switched to BofA due to the Fleet merger and got free bill pay in the process. I gotta say, its one handy feature, no more pen and paper or bill dates to remember.

How does money transfer works between primary bank and these online accounts?

(at least for my accounts) you set up transfers between accounts by providing the banks with routing and account numbers of accounts you want to transfer into/out of. It's simialr to paying your credit card bill online.
