W7 32 bit into 64 bit

I just came from the electronics store with Windows 7 64 bit full version. (incidentally, $139.99 Builder Pack). The Tech/Salesman convinced me that I could install 64 bit on my system even though my system is 32 bit and it would be to my advantage. I am too technically naive to really believe that. Did he tell me the truth? (See signature)
 
Assuming that your system is the one in your sig then it is 64bit capable. Your CPU supports intel 64. More to it your mobo supports Win7 64. If your mobo's CD-ROM does not include Win7 64 drivers you can download them straight from ASUS's web page. With a 64bit OS you will be able to utilize the full 4GBs of RAM you have.

It seems to me that that tech/salesman guy did you a favour. :thumbsup:
 
Not too much is gained by going with 64-bit with 4gb of ram... but nothing is lost either. Win 7 x64 has much more support than Xp64 ever did.

Most software is not optimized for 64 bit... but that is slowly changing. Photoshop cs5 x64 runs much better than the 64 bit version of CS4.

Go with 64 bit.

Again keep in mind though ... you are going to have to reinstall everything.
 
also you probably don't need to buy another license if you have your 32bit key. It will work with 64bit but you just need a 64bit install disk.
