W2k Update Error (Help!)

Hello,

I have run into a wierd problem. One of my workstations with W2K Pro will not accept updates from MS. When I click on Windows Updates, the page comes up and starts to display, then I get the following error:

Windows Update Error
Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot display the requested page. Error# 0x8007007E

I have removed NAV, booted into Safe mode. No Joy. Any ideas? The W2K is not warez. In thinking back, this all started back when I downloaded the Automatic Windows Update. Of course, this doesn't work either. I can't try to re-install the Automatic Windows Update patch, as I can't get to the update page. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. This is my office workstation, so I don't want to re-install all the OS and all the software!

Thank you for your suggestions.

Thanks for the replies. I did do a repair on the IE6, no help. I did click on the link you provided. I can see the main page, but I get the same error if I click into Wondows Update Catalog. I did use another machine to load the "auto-update" patch, but it doesn't make a difference. In fact, If I try to remove the Windows Critical Update Notification, then I get the error: "Could not locate INF file wucrtupd.inf.

I guess my next step is to reinstall SP2. This is really weird. I appreciate the help, or any further suggestions.
