W2K Server question

OutHouse

Lifer
with the NT resourse kit there is a tool (usrmgr.exe) to remotely manage the domain logins/users. I need the same tool for W2K. I have the W2K resourse kit but i do not see that tool. Am I just missing it or is there one?

ok got the tool loaded but i can not connect to my DC.

My workstation that I am trying to connect from is a 2000 machine but on a different domain than the DC im trying to connect to. when i try to connect using active directory users and computers i get this error.

Unable to connect to the domain controller because: the server is not operational.

the server is running or i would have atleast 200 angry users calling me. anybody know what is wrong?

Citrix,

You would want to make sure the client you are using AD users and computers from is

1) In the same Domain as the DC you are trying to manage...or....
2) In a Domain that has an established trust relationship with the Domain that contains the DC you are trying to manage

If you have fufilled #2, make sure the account you are using to logon is a member of the Enterprise Admin group. Domain Admin would not do it in that case.

It wouldnt make sense for someone to be able to load up AD Users and Computers and then begin managing any domain they want. If that was the case, I could manage yours myself!

Thanks Saltin that explains it. i have a one way trust and i cant change it for security reasons. I will just have to scrounge up another pc and put it on that domain.

I found a work around for using the admin tools.

I connected to my W2K Server using Terminal services Client. logged in under the admin account and i have full control of the DC.
