w2k server connection problem

last night, my win2k server started getting socket errors on bootup,
and wouldnt connect to the internet.
The socket error message no longer appears, but I still can't connect
with IE, outlook etc., yet I have an ip when I run ipconfig (cable modem),
so I'm connecting

I've tried adding removing tcp/ip protocol, rebooting, etc., to no avail

don't want to have to do a new installation,

help appreciated
 
Did you install service pack 2?..mine did the same thing, uninstalled the service pack and everything was back to normal...just a suggestion..
