W2K - need to keep data & programs, new motherboard, STOP: Inaccessable boot device

I've tried doing a repair install.

I've tried doing an overwrite install.

I can't seem to get it to re-create the HAL, what else can I do?

System has gone from a P3 based Celery 815 chipset to a P4 845 chipset.

Reinstalling is the last thing I wish to do, what else can be done?

Also tried sysprep to begin the mini-setup again, no luck.
