W2K BNC and Monitor

In W2K my monitor is listed as "(Default Monitor)" by using the BNC cables.
I want to change the monitor but W2K won't let me.
There isn't a plug n play option.

Thanks

??? The only BNC that pops into my head is a type of network cable. Can you explain a little more? Can't really ever write too much. More always helps.

BNC cables are for professional monitors (few 19" monitors have them, most 21"+ do). Basically, DNC cables are either 3,4, or 5 coxial cables that split the RGB and sync signals separately and thus improving image quality. Unless you're doing lots of CAD or drafting stuff, don't worry too much about it.

But the default Monitor profile won't let me use the energy saving modes on my monitor. ( Sony CPD-G500 )

Is there a way around this? Tried to install a different monitor profile W2K won't let me.
Maybe I should set monitor power options in the bios.

Thanks

I just got my new 21 inch monitor in the other day and was debating on getting BNC cables. My old 17inch monitor had BNC connections also but I never tried them to see if the picture was better. For around $12 plus shipping I may order some for my new monitor.

Plug n Play only works when the monitor is connected with the 15-pin VGA cable. However, I'm currently using BNC cables on my monitor (thus my monitor shows up as the default), and I'm able to change the Power Scheme.

By the way, I'm running Win2K, SP1.

I can change power scheme but the monitor never powers down. I have a duel monitor setup my PF790 does it. Never seen my Sony Monitor do it since I've gotten the BNC cables.
I'll just set it in the bios.

Thanks

Thanks for that thought. I never bothered to check if my monitor actually shuts off.

It worked fine... By the way, does anybody really see an improvement with their BNC cables?? I'm running at 1600x1200 and I really can't tell the difference since I've switched...

I'm running @ 1600x1200 as well I noticed it a tad bit. Text seems sharper w/ the BNC cables. Either that or my eyes got adjusted to the monitor.
Damn my BNC monitor still doesn't power down.... my Viewsonic on the 15 pin does it fine.

Argh....
