Just in case some of you might have a clue

My Intelli Mouse Explorer is not letting me reassign the buttons on my W2K box. The utility recongizes the Mouse and when I reassign the buttons, the changes are properly retained.
The problem is that the buttons still execute thier default functions, no matter what the intelli point software says.
As near as I can figure all the usual places recognize the mouse correctly.

It's some crummy little detail somewhere, because I already had W2k running on the same computer with this mouse and everything worked once I downloaded W2K compliant intelli point software from Microsoft.

As I said, if by chance anyone had this problem and solved it, great . . . clue me in

OK, you got me looking in the right spot. Microsoft currently offers 3.2 and 3.1a software for this device, this time I pulled the older version and everything worked as expected.

Thanx
