w00t, we finally got cable tv!

Shawn

Lifer
My dorm room shares a bathroom with the room next door. We're good friends with our neighbors and their parents just paid for the cable so I asked if I could use it. They said yeah so I bought a splitter and a 50ft cable from Walmart and ran it from my neighbor's room, across the bathroom floor, and across our whole room. I taped it down to the floor with some packaging tape. 😀 w00t! That saves us the $30 activation fee plus $25/month. The bathroom doors still close too. 😉

Nah, all I need is my tv shows.

So on top of the dorm ISP, your neighbors also are paying for a cable ISP?

EDIT Re-read it, you guys just got Cable TV.

You are my hero

It's not stealing if they are paying for it.

You really can't be that dense.

I guess my entire block can chip in for one cable connection, and just run the lines and splitters from house to house?

Ask your cable company

Just like they wanted to charge for every TV in my house at home. Yeah right. I just took off the covers in the rooms and put a cable jack there.

Technically, it is against the rules, but when they come out they're not gonna say anything. Hell, they even gave me a new splitter to get a better signal.

Well, then the occupants of the house actually pay for it.

I think he can be...

This is the guy that thought LA on the Fedex package tracker meant Los Angeles.

You mean there is not a Baton Rouge in Los Angeles?

It's no different. The cable company wanted us to pay extra for every TV we had hooked up. We are just hooking up an extra TV to my roomates cable. It's not like we opened up the box outside.

I believe he's talking about TV, not internet.

People who know about the internet still watch that crap? 😕 Anyway, he specifically mentioned BT, so...

It is completely different. Tell me what the difference is between what you're doing, and if an entire block on a street split one cable connection across several houses (besides them running cables outside).

EDIT: Is it roommate or neighbor? There's a huge difference.

Yeah, he had me at first too. Granted, I still do watch some programs, but I don't watch > an hour or two of TV a week. Just not my thing really.
