Well, almost free :)! I got them really cheap from my workplace. I already bought one of 'em and currently thinking about buying the other one as well (I propably will). Their specs are:

200Mhz Pentium Pro
64megs of RAM
3GB SCSI-drive
CD-ROM

The other one has 200MHz Pentium and no drive (yet, I will try to find one before I buy it). Both have NT4 Server (not for long though) in 'em. Also, I might be able to increase the amount of RAM.

Both will run Linux, that much is certain. But what could I do with 'em? Any suggestions? I will install Apache on one of 'em, and will also try out FTP. But what else? Fileserving is one propable thing I'll do, and maybe a mp3-server (but I need bigger drives)...

Nice. I love getting new stuff...even if it's not "new", it's new to me, you know? :D The cool thing is, you can beat on these boxes as much as you want as they aren't your main rig. Fun time!

True :). I love to learn new stuff and try out things, but I can't really do that with my main rig, 'cause if the computer fails, then I have no computer to use! But these older, practically free computers are perfect for that kind of stuff!

Hey, they can serve files without any problems, act as an mp3-server, www-server, ftp-server, router :)... And the price was nominal, they couldn't give them away, so I had to pay something.

My dads company is throwing out THOUSANDS of IBM GL 300's and better, complete with 17" viewsonic monitors....and they are PAYING a company to 'recycle' them. I hope to be getting a few(dozen) before they get rid of them, would make a reallly nice crack rack :)

Ebay 'em, you'll make a fortune from the monitors alone.

My company threw away a "broken" PIII 700, 128mg, 32x cdrom, integrated video, I went dumpster diving after work and all it needed was a new mobo. I'm glad our techs are idiots, just wish the dumpster wasn't so big.

Lucky SOB......I'd like a cheap system too (or two....or three), so that I can run a linux-box and then dedicate one box to file-sharing (I'm at 4 gigs free on my 100 gigger.......not good, time to start burning)
