W00T! Metal Gear Solid 2 COMING TO UNITED STATES FIRST!!!

Yes the title is right, and the rumors are true. Metal Gear Solid 2 will indeed be released in the States before it hits Japan. Konami has stated that the release of MGS2 in Japan will happen sometime in December, and while there is no exact date set for its release, MGS2 is expected to hit stores on November 13th here in the States.

In something that doesn't happen, well NEVER, this will be the first time that any huge Japanese game has made it to the US before Japan, but then it should have been expected as Konami has stated all along that MGS2 gets a better response from America then Japan, since its first documented sightings at E3 2000.

Furthermore, the company also stated that both launches are better with the Holiday Season, which makes sense when you think about it. We have Thanks Giving and they don't, so hopefully our HAPPY Holiday Season starts then.

Metal Gear Solid has a damn good storyline. It rivals even Final Fantasy and other RPG.

the explanation was that christmas shopping starts earlier in the states than in japan..but i bet the real reason is becuase mgs was a hit in the states while only moderately selling in japan

But the Sonic Adventure 2 development team &quot;Sonic Team&quot; is based out of San Francisco now, so that might have had something to do with that.

Sonic 2 was released simultaneously worldwide, if that has any merit. So was Sonic Adventure 2.

BTW, I don't know why everybody thinks that this means that we are going to get it first. MGS2 doesn't even have a release date for America! Therefore, logic would show that if it was delayed in Japan, its going to be delayed an equal amount in America, meaning we are still getting it after them.

As much as I would like to see us getting it first so that we could laugh at them(for once), I don't see it happening.

This was own last year -- mentioned in numerous articles.

Can't wait for this game. This is really the only reason why I own a PS2. MGS2 will rock and I'm so happy I haven't played more than 10 minutes of the demo to spoil myself of the full game. I'll make sure to beat MGS again just to get my reflexes down for MGS2.

Heh, I don't think it's gonna be all that great. I mean, shouldn't they have run out of good storylines by now? Sure the graphics and gameplay will kick ass, but all graphics rock on a ps2.
