W00t! Kuro PDP-5020FD for $1000

A friend of ours is closing his A/V shop after 20 years. He's liquidating his inventory, and had shipped this TV to Jersey to a dealer, who promptly shipped it back with a hole in the box. The TV is fine but the box is slightly damaged, and our friend was closing forever so he offered it to us for $1000.

Now I just gotta get some better source for it. I have the HD-DVD player hooked up to it, and it looks sharper than our 720p Elite 42" in the bedroom. It's replacing an old SDTV projection TV so I've never had HD content in the living room before.

Time to put together an HTPC

$1000 for a 5020 is a fantastic deal. I helped my sister-in-law pick one up but she paid twice as much which was still a great deal back then. And it really is no shock that it looks much better than your 42" Elite, not only because of the higher resolution, but because of the new tech that goes into the 9G Kuros. And the great part is, it will look every better after you've had a chance to break it in. Congrats!
