CRTs for the win. They're still one of the best technologies you can get, the LCDs are only just now starting to match them. DLPs are the only things that come close in PQ. Get a CRT ISF calibrated, and it'll blow away just about anything else, especially in the same price ranges as rpCRTs. Just go read avsforums if you don't believe me.

Congrats to the OP, you're gonna love it. HD TV feeds, high-rez filtered/upscaled DVDs from an HTPC, and HD games on the bigscreen.... Oh yea, good deal too, I only have a 52" RCA, but I still love it.

I disagree. While CRT may have some things going for it, there is definitely a reason why the two most popular new technologies are making the CRT(RP) disappear. They can easily lose focus and do not have the stunning sharpness that a DLP or LCD set will. The virtually perfect geometry and the size really set DLP and LCD apart from the CRT models still available.

CRTs suck for RPTVs. They're the best for non RPTV's, but they're definitely inferior to RPLCDs and DLPs. They have poor viewing angles(so much that you can't get one uniform picture). They are a lot bulkier and heavier. They aren't as vibrant either. The convergence generally sucks.
Anyways, I love my 61" InFocus double rear projection DLP. Only 8 inches thick. Got it for $2500 on woot.com. The deal comes back every once in a while.

Hitachi RP CRTs kick ass.
Myself, I got a Sony KD 34XS955 with Superfine Pitch and built in ATSC tuner for $799 with 10% off- came out to around $780 total! Man, you've got to see what HD looks like on this!:Q

Thats a really good deal man.

Yeah, but SHHH- it was open box.🙂
When I saw this deal at BB, I couldn't believe it. There were some scratches around the case but the screen was fine. Unbelievable, I had to get it.
It's in the basement now, with the coaxial cable snaking out to the upstair bedroom from outside- very ghetto😀 but it works. At 200lbs, though, it took 4 guys to get it down here.

4? haha, could have done it with 3 😛.

Open box is cool though, so what if there were some scratches on the rest of the TV, as long as it works well, it is a good deal.

nice, I got a lcd projection panasonic 60''. back than dlp was 1st generation plus has moving parts in them so eventually its going to break down plus needs maintance regularly with lcd projection only the bulb can go out.

We got that in at work and we refused to lift it. The back is completely made of .75 in partical board!
