yea only another guy knew how to play, we had to teach the other two (probably why we were the only ones winning 😀)
 
my friends and I play every friday night. In fact, i just played tonite...I lost 1 dollar. Once, we played from 9pm until 4am. What rules do you guys play? we play 13 tiles cantonese MJ, minimum of 3 fan, powers of 2 in pennies. So if you won a 3 fan hand, that's 2^3 or 8 pennies. 🙂

well, when i play with my parents, we have to get at least 1 fan. 13 tiles, no flowers.

but the other guy that knew how to play, is taiwan, so he played garbage style 😛 no minimum fan... the set was missing the flowers so we didnt' have flowers. 13 tiles (since there are no flowers)

btw, have you ever heard of lan pi hu? the one that is "garbage"? you can't have any that are less than 2 close to each other? some people i played with have heard of this (my parents, and another group of friends), but this taiwan guy had never heard of it.

wish we could play until 4... but my bud's parents kicked us out 😛

u play by dollars? good lord you can do some serious damage. I don't think i want to lose couple hundred bucks playing MJ.
 
do you guys know where i can find current rules for various styles (cantonese namely...)? all i can find are the traditional ones (ie, the rules that came with the very first game). not sure if they have changed or something over time...
