Sorta...

My car, a Crown Vic, is a rear wheel drive. Stinks in the snow.

Good thing there was snow on the ground.

Anywho...
i almost died, killed my passenger, hit a telephone pole, and rammed into a car!

coming back from ski mountain and on one of the roads.. i guess i braked a bit too hard and i started fishtailing all over the place didnt know what to do so i made it much worse and at one point we were heading straight towards some doods who were pulled over and a telephone pole but i got it to start going the other way and started goign towards a fence but the ditch saved us and the car was facing the other way

of course once we fall into the ditch and get out of the car the salt truck drives back

cool thing is that the ditch was right across the street from a police station

Isn't the adrenaline rush great?! I love that feeling!

Glad to hear you are alive and kicking.

Heh..

At the end of it all when I was sliding into the people pulled over on the side of the road and the telephone poll I was in a complete state of pure shock. It wasn't really panic or being scared.. it was just my mind going over and over.. "I am going to hit that thing and bend my car in half"

I wasnt going slow at that point either, at least, it didnt seem like it.

Luckly though somehow the car started going the other way and I stopped in the ditch. After we walked around in the dark looking at the tire marks we noticed that right before the telephone poll and the other guys was another ditch that we fell into that shot us the other direction.

Eesh.. rear wheel drive can suck it.
So can my snow driving skills.

Did your life go into slow-mo? My most severe accident was when a Corolla ran a red in the snow and I t-boned them in a Land Cruiser. From the time they skidded in front of me to the moment of impact was maybe 3 seconds but I had time to think, "Holy cow, that car is in my way. Oh dear, I'm never gonna stop in time. Geez, I wonder if the impact is going to hurt? Will my airbag deploy? Hmmm.... that's a tiny car, I think those guys are dead meat. Am I wearing clean underwear? Yes I am. Alright dude, brace for the impact and hope for the best."

WHAM!!!

Glad you are okay.

LOL! I had that experience the last accident I was in (was t boned as well, I was the passenger). I was like, "Hmm... were passed the white line, almost in the middle... wait... whats that car doing... damn its coming this way, I think its going to hit... man this is gona hurt" *BANG!

And that?s how the Ford Aerostar, which we rented an hour ago, was totalled.

heh. first time i read your post, i thought you did kill your passenger. awfully cavalier... but yeah, good thing you're alive.

Ahhh you just can't handle the superior Crown Vic performance 😀

What year...

Do you drive it much in the snow?

94. Works fine in the snow with traction control on. Haven't gotten the chance to drive it in SNOW yet though 🙂

Big myth. 4WD/AWD does not offer any additonal traction. Needless to say, during the last storm here in Massachusetts, I saw more AWD (2 Suburus, an Audi, and a Mercedes 4Matic) cars in various states of immobility than SUVs (1 Explorer). Seems SUV people are beginning to learn their lesson, time for people in AWD cars to do the same.

windogg how much crack do you smoke... while 4wd or awd offers no additional braking abilities it does however offer a hell of a lot more traction for acceleration and overall control of the vehicle... i've owned FWD AWD RWD and 4WD vehicles and RWD flat ass sucks in the snow... 99% of driving on a slick road is common sense. the other 1% is balls which most have neither of...

Dude, you were worried for nothing. Your driving a Crown Vic! You would have demolished everything in your path without a scratch on your bumper.

An old buddy of mine used to have a Crown Vic. He rammed people all the time. Ahh yes, those were different times.

Different place too, in fact different people even. Hmmm, in fact, you didn't hear that from me...

Or could it be that you were just driving under the influence and imagining all this???

I wish.

But no, I have a police report filed in some town in PA that I do not remember the name of to prove the story.

Oh well, maybe next time I will try to learn to drive when sliding out better.

The benefit of AWD doesn't come from traction, but from the fact that propulsion is distributed evenly among all 4 wheels instead of just 2, so those 4 all have lower chance of losing grip.
