Vx924 resolution - the best way to show 1280x960?

I know that monitor native resolution is 1280x1024 but lots os games I have will only play at 1280x960.

Whats the best way to view these games? Can I just show 1280x960 surrounded by 2 black bars?

As long as your LCD supports displaying resolutions at non-native aspect ratios with the black bars, then that's the best way to game at those resolutions. When not stretched to fill the screen, the graphics won't be distorted, so [in your case] characters won't appear unnaturally tall compared to how they should look.
