VX 922

I am considering purchasing this. Any thoughts? Getting a pretty good deal.

It's a gamer's monitor. It's OK - very fast, hardly any noticeable ghosting, very limited blur. I prefer the NEC 90GX2 / new 90GX2Pro series though. Much better colors IMO, not inferior in terms of speed, and less prone to backlight bleeding. If you can stand the glossy OptiClear screen treatment, go for the NEC IMHO.

The problem is there are hardly any choices here. There is some LG 19'' but I can't find any reviews of LG monitors. The only reason I haven't bought this yet is because I watch DVDs on my monitor, and I hear this is HORRIBLE for movies?

It's absolutely GREAT if you are a serious gamer and enjoy precision crosshairs! But you're also correct in that it's not the best for movies... i still think it's good enough to watch them, just not the very best.

I got mine for gaming, pure and simple.

The only other drawback is the limit on resolutions, so taking FULL advantage of new video cards and SLI is not an option.. but then again, the advantages you do get are well worth it if you ask me. They have some 20" monitors that are starting to overtake the 19's for gaming, but that's about as large as you can go without too much blurring, smearing, or tearing.

I'd go for it and enjoy it, especially if you get a really hot deal!

Yea I am getting a sweet deal, but I want to see it in action playing a movie before deciding I guess.

If you like to watch movies, go for a decently fast MVA panel - it's almost as good in games but the best technology for movies, no twinkling at all.

Yes but the response time is only worse in theory. In practice, it's simply the same. According to tests, reliable sources and my own experience, all decent TN monitors with g2g response time of up to 4-6 ms perform exactly the same. 2 ms or 4 ms doesn't make a difference - it's just a marketing hook.

BTW, in a few weeks, the slightly updated 90GX2 Pro should be available. Changes: a bit higher claimed contrast, viewing angles and 2 ms response time (g2g).
