A colleague of mine who bought a new jetta was plagued by some intermittent malfunction in the electrical system where the engine would suddenly stop and the car wouldnt start for a brief period. It happened to him on the freeway and he was pretty pissed with the dealership. They actually replaced pretty much half the engine in the car but the problem still happened after 6months or a year. After bringing it in 5 times, as I understand it, he hired a lawyer and sent a legal letter to VW and the dealership stating the unreliability of the car and under a lemon law it needed to be replaced. He actually got 24k back from VW which he used to buy a CRV.
Personally, I wouldve stuck with the VW than own a shi||y looking poor excuse of a mini runt SUV.
