I've thought that they were pretty clever. Wonder why the end each one with "Oh ... <cut> sh*t" though.

Umm, wrong commercial. Those were funny, where these are just lame.

In a real accident like that, that Jetta would crumple up like a tin can. Sure, the occupants would survive, but there certainly wouldn't be much of a car left to show at the end.

yeah, that's what cars are meant to do. crumple up like an aluminum can to protect to passengers. i wouldn't want it any other way.

Eh, I don't think they're the type of commercials that would really make people want to buy them.

Those commercials? Weaksauce.

they're aiming for a totally different aspect though. they're trying to show the new jetta as a very safe vehicle.

the GTI is their fun/sport car, so of course they're going to make it funny to appeal to the enthusiest crowd. representin' deutchland, yaaaaaah!:D

i like both commercials, but for different reasons. one is funny, the other is clever/creative

the passat is a fun car, even though it's a sedan (saw it in some other thread you got a passat :))

just gotta lower the suspension, get a chipmod, perhaps a larger turbo, and some 17's will do nicely ;)

anyway, good car, my family has a 1999 silver 1.8T and i love it to death :)

Damn. That first one really sucked. I've seen the second on air. I like VWs, dunno about the styling on the new jetta, but they're pretty decent cars.

I got the V6, fully loaded. but i am ... well, let's put it this way...

when i sat my fat ass on the leather seats while listening to he premium sound and was playing with the seat warmers and electric sunroof and admiring the cherry wood dashboard... i did not take a lot of things into consideration... like the gas, the maintenience... $200 for a key???!!!! it is a friggen key!!! the key to my last car was $1.99 at the local hardware store!!!

but i love it. every time i drive it, i love it. nice car, great price ... and it is nice looking inside too.

:)

I plowed into a bus at an intersection with my jetta and it ended up looking pretty well like the car in the commercial. The front crumbled and I didn?t feel a thing.

VW has arguably best ad agency in the business, Crispin-Porter. As they've done for a number of their clients, they're doing a fantastic job of bringing new attention to an established name with an entirely new image in their ads. Their commercials (both the very humorous Unpimp ones as well as these far more serious spots) are getting a lot of attention and buzz as evidence by this thread, other threads, and blog posts.

If it weren't for the fact that every person I know who owns a VW (save one) has had nothing but constant problems from their cars, it might actually cause me to think more highly of their products.

Note to drivers: keep your fricking eyes on the road and stop gossiping w/ your male friend when driving.
