reducing my winamp volume forces my game volume down also..
how can i unlink those 2 controls from afftecting the other?
i need more game vol and less music.
I think Vista includes this functionality. You could also try messing with the eq on winamp to de-amplify the song. I'm not sure if that would make it make it quieter or just sound really bad though.
Change the volume from in-game, perhaps? Or maybe there's a plug-in for WinAmp that will do this, I'm not sure. By default, adjusting WinAmp's volume adjusts the system Wave volume.
Use the equaliser setting in Winamp, instead of the volume control.
I set the preamp to make Winamp quieter, helps for games like Company of Heroes where the in-game volume even at max is absurdly quiet.

Why don't you keep the software sliders at max and use the physical volume knob on your speakers?
um...try clicking the speaker icon in the tray, then click mixer. you should be able to adjust the volume for different programs there. For vista at least.
nope just the wav/mp3 slider works which equals the winamp volume which when adjusted to a low position also forces the game vol down linearly to like 1/3 of of the winamp.
so no matter what i do even with (game vol=9 +winamp EQ=-12db) winamp still overpowers
the game vol by alot.
