Free phones are cool. Except when they suck. Anyone know whether this one sucks?

My VTech phone, different model (Model 2468), has worked well. 2.4ghz, good clear sound. Shape of phone is comfortable for long conversations. I don't like the base station answering machine. Programming it is not intuitive and it does not have a battery backup.

I've never had any luck with VTech phones. Most had horrible reception. I am not sure how the newer ones are.

I've bought the VTech EV2625 2.4GHz dual-handset from Staples few months for $30 AR. Both fones work well for me. Staples has it on sale today. I submitted the rebate via Staples online and got it in 4 weeks. U may find a $10 coupon to get a lower price.

Jokersmoker posted a thread on a different 2.4GHz phone a month ago for $5 after rebate from Staples.

I bought it, it was really, really bad (static, white noise, no mattter where I put it). I took it back.

I bought a $20 900MHz VTech four years ago for one of my labs, and the thing is great. My roommate has a 2.4GHz VTech that looks like the one advertised here, and it works great too.

I'm going get one of these at the B&M to try it out.
