I'm posting this here for anyone that doesn't know.
If you want to improve performance in games../
Turn off Vsync.
I got a 15 fps boost in Oblivion and FEAR like that. 🙂

if you can use triple buffering, it will fix the slower FPS problem. HOWEVER, only OpenGL games make easy use of it. Using DirectXTweaker will help out with D3D games. The negative point to it is that it will introduce a slight mouse lag.

In other words, learn to live without it like most of us 😛

Very well known. In fact, if VSync is turned on with my pc I get major tearing in BF2, and I get memory arctifacting like hell in Oblivion. No issues with HL2 or Souce games though.

gersson, I wasn't asking anything haha. I was just telling anyone who didn't know about the glories of not having vsync on.

Vsync should be no problem provided your video card outputs more frames/sec than the refresh rate of your monitor. As soon as it goes below though, you take a big hit, less so with triple buffering. Like gersson said, the lag still persists even with TB.

My card doesn't put out more fps than my refresh rate. 🙂 That's why it helps.

Vsync is very game dependent for my taste.

I need to run with Vsync (and TB) on with BF2.. otherwise the tearing is wicked.

I'd rather have 60 sexxy frames per second then 85 that are crap.
