Vsync won't enable in Far Cry

Phew

Senior member
I have an x800XL and a Dell2001FP. Even with vsync enabled within the game, in the far cry configurator, and set to 'always on' in the ATI Direct3D setting, the fps go above 60 and I experience tearing. I have the newest Catalyst drivers too.

Is there a known fix to this problem?

I have had that problem before and wound up having to remove the drivers and reinstall them to get it going again.

NP, I have no clue why it works, but I'm glad it does. 🙂

Oh yeah, when using vsync in Far Cry, a bit of tweaking will do wonders. Just make a file in your Far Cry dir called systemcfgoverride.cfg and in it place the line:

d3d9_TripleBuffering = "1"

That will give you much smoother framerate with vsync on.

I was noticing before that the framerate would be either 30 or 60. Turning triple buffering on keeps it at 60. Thanks again Snowman!
