i didn't want to create another thread since there was already one, so i decided to bump this one back up... I just wanted to know you would think in this day and age input delay would be solved but it isn't. But anyway, i have heard on another forum the only way to get rid of input lag altogther is to get an lcd thats 85hz? Is this true? Anyone can clarify this? Are there any LCDs that even go that high? There are days i just want to go back to my old CRT, many ppl still play on CRT to this day (especially old veteran Q3 players) since pinpoint accuracy is just not possible with most lcds today.
I have never heard of that either. All this input delay/lag all came out after LCDs/HDTVs/flat panels started to come out.
Same thing happened to me, one of the very first things i noticed when i first got an lcd was that something just wasn't right when I was playing. At that time i didn't know NOTHING about it until i did further researched it. After many days of googling and reading articles and going to different forums that was when i started to find out more about this so-called Input Delay with LCDs.
I think the reason why some ppl notice it while others don't is because the effects of the delay on the user depend on the user's own sensitivity to it.

are you saying this is present on CRT's as well? i had never heard of 'mouse lag' until lcd's (and wireless mice) came out.

i never vsynced on a crt, because tearing never seemed to be a problem with quake or similar games of the era. i think half-life was the first game where i noticed it (still on a crt), and it didn't bother me until i moved to an lcd.

It's definitely vsync. The input lag isn't large, but it's noticeable. It doesn't bother everyone, but it does bother some. It's happened to me on every computer I've ever owned with Nvidia or ATI and on every monitor I have ever had both CRT and LCD. If you've used vsync for years, you probably are long since used to it. If you haven't used vsync for years, it's very noticeable when you turn it on.
