he was pointing out the lack of any sources and how the particular writer has no sources. Thus implying that this article as there being no sources are all guesses and shouldn't be taken seriously.

:colbert:

Yup. You can read this thread and see mostly comments like 'Kepler should be ....' or 'I expect Kepler to be .....'

Pretty baseless stuff. We need some actual leaks or details, otherwise these discussions are pretty much just full of hot air.

And re-read my post. Regardless of the validity, people will read it, and people will comment on it, and discuss it, and eventually some people will be affected by it.

It is exactly why no response from nVidia is a bad thing with so many negative rumors floating around. VR-Zone is often posted here (from both sides of the fence) and paraded as a valid source of information, now ironically it isn't so useful.

People like to sweep these things under the rug, because "they know better" but frankly put they know as much as the articles and all they can go on was the tidbit news they heard that they favor.

A bad thing huh? Ever heard of not dignifying something with a response?
Trust me, you aren't going to force a response from Nvidia with this "saying nothing means bad news!" method. Unless they want you to know something, of course. This is part of the madness of believing that because Tahiti launched, so should have Kepler. I know you guys will get it eventually. :)

I didn't specifically say pitcairn was the card for us. The GTX 570 is slowly inching it's way into our requirements, and if Pitcairn brings any competition (well who knows anymore) it could cause some interesting rebates.

I was just more so pushing, don't expect people to wait for Kepler when nVidia themselves aren't even saying a word. There are other cards to pick from.

If the hD 78xx OCs like the HD 79xx series, and after I look at power draw, our goal might be closer in reach. I didn't say the cards had to be stock for our requirements (however, stock would be preferred - GTX 660 was rumored to be this card.)

I figured you would not be looking at 40nm cards. Pitcairn may be a great performer (I'm sure it will with respect to perf per mm^2 and perf per watt metrics) but if the reference design doesn't require two 6-pin PCIE power connectors, overclocking might be limited. I'm not sure what the cards will draw under load, I'm just pointing out a potential caveat with chips that draw less power and therefore have less power connectors.

One could infer your counter comments can be a response from nVidia. You do a great job posting in all the negative thread with the same story.

Expecting a response to bad "news" is now a negative? If my preferred team was dragging it's ass, you damn well I'd expect a response for their managers.

Hell, I'm having a bad day at work because my managers didn't communicate a schedule change to us.

But, in Nv World, sure let the rumors run amock, who cares. Oh wait, you're here to counter that ;)

I'm a gamer, not a stock holder or forum warrior. I only care about the performance relative to heat, power consumption, and price, only because I have set requirements for each (ie if upgrading the PSU is required, that comes out of the GPU budget, and if heat is an issue, well then I can't justify it - why no GTX 470 in her rig, first batch just didn't cover it and she refused to get an HD 5850, but thankfully nVidia had that ace - the GTX 460.)

I won't be OCing a card in rig to numbers that require long division (saracasm :p) but if a simple OC can get us to our point, hey why note? I OC'ed her stock 460 to match 5850 performance and she was happy. When that card died, and EVGA did us nice and gave us a SC - so stock she was happy.

The card just needs to meet certain criteria, the other stuff is irrelevant - she just plays games. She doesn't argue on forums about who has bigger pockets haha.

I can see that you really must be having a bad day what with all the digs. So I wont blame you if you continue it. Really doesn't matter anyway.

What digs? Wasn't the NFG a purpose to reach the communities? Isn't that why the whole hooplah about viral marketing exploded and blah blah.

It's all part of PR. Sponsor events, to get your message accross, battle bad news to save face, and so forth.

Whatever. That's fine.

So what? they were late with Fermi too and they took the lead back. I expect them to do the same thing again this time.

They most likely would. Which makes all these defender/attack thread/posts that more amusing.

I don't get why people outside of just having a jolly good time get so bent out of shape over such trivial things.

LOL that was nothing more than an opinion blog. Throw out the salt shaker on that one.

I don't necessarily disagree with that article, but couldn't any one of us on this forum have written that? It was 100% opinion. If anything, I prefer to see NV keep their cards close to their vest when they have nothing to talk about, that whole fermi I/wood screws fiasco was laughable and put the company in a very negative light. But if we (and the enthusiast press) keep castigating them for not talking when they have nothing to talk ABOUT, we're just going to encourage them to bust out more wood screws/whoop ass discussions/etc etc. And again, I'm not saying that I disagree with the opinion of the author, in fact, I think that he makes a lot of sense, but I can summarize that article in one sentence: The author believes that NV is going to be 6 months + late on the high end, just like the last refresh, and they're going to bring out the midrange ( a great performer for fermi I) first on 28nm.

I thought the whoop ass fiasco was directed at Intel ? :p
