nice!
Great Qc boost when graphics are not used. Seems like the mobile platform will get very close to their desktop platform.

Take a look at the graphics clock speeds and compare to the desktop ones:

Mobile: 35/45/55W: 1300MHz/1250MHz/1200MHz depending on SKU

Desktop: 1050MHz/1150MHz depending on SKU

17W Mobile: 1150MHz, which is same as the desktop one

Ugh, i7 dual core. Would this be the first in the 7 line with only 2 cores? I thought it was confusing enough to do that with the i5, but now the i7. Wish there was some more reasoning behind the numbers.

It would appear to me Intel is giving more GPU to the laptop Ivy Bridge in an attempt to keep the laptop CPU core speeds down.

Therefore, it just makes you wonder what kind of laptop cpu clocks we would have seen if the laptop GPU speeds were equivalent to the "desktop" SKU?

Or maybe I am overstating things and the extra 150 Mhz on the laptop GPU really doesn't really result in that much more power draw?

The GPU can be power gated if its not used anyway so there should be no impact on power consumption, like with 2D applications and discrete graphics. If you look over the desktop S and T Ivy Bridge lines, the mobile ones have better specs in both the CPU and GPU.

We do have the "same performance with 50% lower power shown here.

3667U should be perform like the 2640M but at 17W and much better graphics. It's clocked slightly lower but the IPC improvements will make up for it.

They also have the "20% performance gain at same power" but I'm not sure where. But if I am a betting man, it would be on the Extreme Editions. 😀

I didn't mean there is no Turboboost for the graphic parts, but that cpu and gpu cannot be turboo'd together. Which is the case on the desktop (unless something is changed about it, but that wouldn't fit the huge Quad core boost).
