Seems to be a good deal to me and I just might jump...

Sweet powebook clone notebook. Caveat is that it's store brand, but somehow I'm not too worried.

2400 original
-100 instant (don't know how long this price lasts)
-200 MIR (exp 12/14)
-400 MIR (exp in '03)

=1700 + tax

Anyway to make this better? Ebates? Bigger rebates on the horizon? Coupons?

So, pound away on this and someone talk me into buying...I've been waiting to get a nice laptop. I've always wanted a thinkpad or a powerbook and it would be great to get a pc powerbook....

Oh dang, this is the laptop designed by Porsche, isn't it?

It's supposed to have a stellar sound card in it.

Does it have a convertible option?

ive seen it in the stores. its very nice, but the powerbook still kills it in looks (plus its still 1lb lighter). But for such a big and powerful notebook then 6.4lbs is great.

the $100 instant should end this saturday and if you happen to be a best buy employee, you get an extra $150 rebate. So that can take care of the other stuff your managers would make you buy.

Well, I'm no best buy employee...With that $400 rebate available for a while I think I'll keep my eye on it and see if this heats up.

some people prefer to use their laptop where there are no outlets 😉 like my x200, high capacity battery, wifi card ... and netstumbler all i need ...

desknotes are nice for what they are, they are supposed to come out with a new version you can actually upgrade the video on (reason I dont have one).

This looks like a nice notebook ... its too bad the wireless sucks on it. Otherwise I'd seriously consider getting it.

15.2 widescreen,
Long battery life,
Slotless CDRW DVD tray,
Integrated wireless - granted its bad,
GeForce Vid Card

Its a pretty loaded notebook for $1700. Granted its a bestbuy brand...

I think for me the attraction is the 15.2 widescreen. If it had better reception on the wireless I'd consider it...

But this ain't for everyone ... read the CNET review...
